When I woke my body ached. It felt like I'd been hit by a bus, not that I'd ever been hit by a bus but if I had I'd assume this is what it would've felt like.
"She's awake!" a female voice yelled and ran out of the room.
I'd managed to lift my head but I hadn't opened my eyes yet when I did the brightness stung through my eyes and into my chest. I winced and closed my eyes, again I opened my eyes but slower this time and looked at the room surrounding me. I realized I was in the infirmary at Moonmore. A second later Areian entered the room with Adrian by her side. Her voice must've been the one I'd heard yelling.
"Morning sunshine," he started sitting on the edge of my bed.
"I've got to say this is a lot nicer than a hospital from my neck of the woods."
"Well, your sarcasm is back so you must be feeling better."
I scooted up in my bed trying to give him more room to sit. I winced from the pain in my arms.
"How are you feeling?"
"Um... sore, tired, and confused. How long have I been out?"
He very gently, I assume trying not to break me, took my hand in his, "A week."
"A week!?" I shot up and immediately regretted it.
"Hey, hey, hey. No sudden movements. Doc's orders."
"What happened?"
"Areian, will you give us a moment alone please?"
"Absolutely. I'll go tell the other's she's awake. I'm so glad to see you awake, Alora," she smiled and walked toward the door.
"Thank you."
"The others! Are they okay? I heard Willa gasp when I was talking to Luca."
"They're all okay and I'll let her explain her thoughts when she gets here but before you're surrounded by people I wanted to talk to you."
"Oh, okay. Are you okay?"
"Oh yeah, I'm all good I just was curious if you believed what Luca said?"
I was confused for a moment before I remembered Luca and I's conversation.
Sister.
Twin.
Demi-god.
"I don't know. He could've been messing with me but it felt sincere, and how would he know about my father?"
"I don't know. I told the Collective what happened but they'll still probably want to talk to you."
"Okay. How did you know to grab the others and back up?"
"What do you mean?"
"When I was walking around Luca and I looked at you. I was trying to give you a look that said 'Stay away' but you did exactly what I was thinking. How?"
"You told me to. I mean yeah sure you looked at me but you told me to back up."
"What? No, I-"
The rest of our friends came into the room all looking more relieved than when a test got canceled.
"Do you guys hear Alora tell me to back up?"
"What? No," Fay replied.
"I didn't hear anything, but maybe it was the wind. It was pretty loud out there," Zena answered.
"I don't know I was standing right next to him and didn't hear anything," Ethan said following George and Wesley to the left side of my bed.
Adrian looked back at me confused.
