taehyung looked at himself in the mirror, smiling with satisfaction. he adjusted his collar one last time, admiring the way the tailored suit hugged his frame. tonight was important; jeongguk had asked him to dress up for a special dinner, and taehyung wanted everything to be perfect.

he pouted as he checked the time again. he had dressed up much earlier than necessary, eager to spend time with jeongguk. but, of course, his boyfriend had rudely told him to arrive on time—not a minute early, not a minute late.

with a sigh, he tried to pass the time, picking up his phone. soon, a smile spread across his lips as he saw jeongguk's incoming call lighting up the screen.

“ggukieee~ can i come early, please?” he whined, barely giving jeongguk a moment to respond. jeongguk rolled his eyes, a fond smile tugging at his lips despite the irritation.

“i miss you too,” he replied shortly, and taehyung bit his tongue, suddenly aware that he had been so focused on his appearance that he had forgotten to express how much he missed jeongguk.

not that he didn’t miss him—he really did, but the thought slipped his mind in the whirlwind of excitement.

“ayee, i miss you!” he mumbled quietly, a pout forming on his lips, his heart fluttering at the thought of being with jeongguk.

“okay, don’t pout now. do something else. you’re not coming here before time—” jeongguk said, but taehyung’s persistent whining cut him off.

“—ggukiee, ple—”

jeongguk interrupted with a playful sigh, “—and make sure to cover yourself fully. it’s going to rain tonight.” his concern was palpable; it had only been a week since taehyung had recovered from a nasty fever, and jeongguk wanted to ensure he stayed healthy.

“okay, captain. anything else?” taehyung giggled, reveling in the playful banter. he could practically hear jeongguk’s soft scoff through the phone.

“i’m serious, and please come exactly on time!” jeongguk insisted, his tone mixing frustration with affection, which only made taehyung chuckle louder.

“we could always have a cozy dinner at home, cooked by you. that would be the most romantic date,” taehyung suggested, sensing the weariness in jeongguk's voice. he knew how much effort jeongguk put into planning things for them, but little did he realize that tonight's dinner was more than just a meal.
