As the night wore on, the ballroom became a blur of laughter, music, and sparkling conversation. The sound of clinking glasses, the smooth melodies from the grand piano in the corner, and the occasional cheer from a nearby table all blended into a symphony of celebration. Jin, Jimin, and Namjoon remained a close-knit trio throughout the evening, Taeho sleeping soundly in Namjoon's arms as the adults took turns catching up and enjoying the atmosphere. At one point, Jin caught the attention of a waiter, requesting a soft blanket to cover Taeho with, ensuring the boy stayed warm as the night deepened. It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes about the care and concern each of them felt for Y/N's son. As midnight approached, the crowd began to thin, and the air grew a little quieter, the party winding down. Namjoon carefully shifted Taeho in his arms, preparing to leave.
"Looks like it's time to head home," Namjoon said softly, rising from his seat.
Jimin nodded, standing as well. "It's been a good night. You'll be alright getting him home?"
"Yeah," Namjoon replied, glancing down at the sleeping boy. "He's out for the count. I'll get him home and tucked in. Y/N's probably waiting for us."
Jin stood as well, stretching his arms above his head before adjusting his jacket. "Tell Y/N we missed her tonight. And give Taeho a kiss from his Uncle Jin."
Namjoon smiled. "Will do."
The three of them made their way to the grand entrance of the ballroom, the cool night air rushing in as the massive double doors swung open. A sleek black car was already waiting at the curb, ready to take Namjoon and Taeho home.
"Thanks for tonight, guys," Namjoon said, turning to his friends. "It was nice... to be reminded that there are still good moments to be had."
Jimin patted Namjoon's shoulder. "We'll always be here, Namjoon. For you, for Y/N, and for Taeho."
Jin nodded in agreement, giving Namjoon a warm smile. "Family isn't just who you're born to. It's who you choose. And we choose each other, no matter what."
Namjoon felt a swell of gratitude in his chest as he glanced between his two closest friends. "Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it."
With one last nod of goodbye, Namjoon carefully slid into the backseat of the car, cradling Taeho in his arms. As the car pulled away from the hotel, the bright lights of the city passed by in a blur, casting long shadows across the sleeping boy's face. Namjoon leaned back, his thoughts drifting to Y/N, who was likely waiting for them at home, perhaps curled up on the couch with a book or simply staring out the window in thought. She had been through so much, and though the weight of the world still rested on her shoulders, Namjoon knew they were all stronger together. As the car drove through the quiet streets, Namjoon felt a sense of peace wash over him. The night had been filled with laughter, love, and a sense of belonging, reminders that even in the midst of life's hardest battles, there were moments worth cherishing.
