"I never knew you were interested in art," I said as we packed up.
"It is my way of distressing," He responded.
"Okay, I have classes now, but see after school," I said about to leave.
"Let's meet here after school," He said and left.
The remaining three periods were in a blur because all I could think about was Mark and all the times we shared after lunch.
"That's all for today," Mr Clark said as he wrapped up, then the bell rang for the end of school.
"Red, wait behind," Mr Clark instructed.
"I know you are dealing with the basketball team, but I need you on the planning committee of the winter ball and fall fair," He said, and immediately I wanted to run out.
"I can't. Catherine is always in this stuff, and you know she hates me, plus you saw how she was glaring at me during class," I explained.
"I saw everything, but I need fresh ideas like new minds, plus she has been removed from the committee and can't join," He explained.
"Okay, I will think about it," I said, leaving the class.
"Just know, it will add some points to your grade for socialising," He shouted from behind.
I walked to where I was meant to meet Mark, and he was standing there waiting for me, and I noticed that he had something in his hands.
"Hey," I said as he moved towards him.
"Couch said I should give you this," He said as he handed me a piece of paper clipped  to a board where he usually scribbled his ideas.
" This is the game plan. Why are you giving it to me?" I asked a bit confused.
"Jake is a bit careless, and we all trust that you will keep it safe," He said after a while, and what he just said made my heart skip.
"Thank you for trusting me," I said while smiling.
"Red, the principal wants to see you," Catherine said from nowhere.
"Umm, I will be there in a second," I said without looking at her.
"I mean now," She said angrily.
"It might take a while just wait for me at my mom is home, and she will welcome you with open arms," I said, giving him a smile.
"Let's go," I said very rudely to Catherine.
"Good afternoon," I said as I entered the office.
"Afternoon, Miss Miller," the principal said as she looked at her desktop.
"Well, starting from today you will no longer be under punishment the boy who caused all this has been caught and he wasn't even under the media of our school so he has been suspended" She explained.
"Ooh, thank you," I said, but I could not move.
"Please, can I volunteer to assist the coach since his assistant is not going to be here until January?" I said almost immediately.
"Why? I thought you hated the punishment. " She asked
"I did at first but now. I am actually interested, plus the coach will need an extra hand since the season is about to start," I responded.
"Okay, if it is what you want," She said.
"You can leave now," She said and picked her phone.
"Red, I don't know what is going on in that your little head, but leave my Mark alone. He is mine and mine only, " Catherine screamed in the hallway.
"I am sorry, are you two dating or married?" I asked.
"No, right, so Mark is open to any girl. I mean, any girl in the school, " I said, and I walked off.
"You will regret this Red. I promise you that everything you think you have now will crumble to the ground. " She screamed after me.
"Mom, I am home," I shouted as I entered my house after I took like ten to fifteen drives around town and stayed at the beach for an hour.
"Ooh my, this is so funny," Mom said, laughing with another familiar voice.
"What is funny?" I said, confused who she would be with.
"This show," Mom said as I entered the living area to see Mark sitting next to her, and I remembered what I told Mark, but I was definitely not in the mood to go out.
"Hi, you are still here," I said, hoping I won't sound.......stupid for ditching the most popular guy in school.
"Yeah, you said I should wait, or are you not up for it anymore?" He said, and the last part was a bit low.
"I will go bring water," Mom said and left.
"I want to go, just not in the mood," I said as I dropped my things on the table.
"What happened in the principal's office?"  He asked, moving forward.
"Nothing, just some stuff." I lied.
"Why don't you guys go and check the canvial out, and it will bring our dear mood of Red back." Mom suggested as she handed me water.
"That will be perfect,"  Mark said immediately.
"I don't want to...to...go in this outfit, it will be a little bit chilli... I mean, I will grab my coat and put on some knee-high socks, " I yapped as I stood.
"Okay, I'll wait," Mark said and sat down again.
"Mom," I shouted.
"Yes, honey," Mom responded.
"I can't find my white coat," I shouted.
"I am coming," She said to me from the living area.
"Be right back," I heard it in her voice to Mark.
"So the white coat," She said, closing my door.
" You are all dressed up, and you look so cute," She said in a hushed tone.
"Carnival Mom, seriously, you know I hate clowns and the rest of the rides," I said, looking at her.
"I felt bad for the guy, plus I know you will regret this when you wake up tomorrow when you are no more mad with Catherine," Mom said, adjusting my hair pin.
"How do you know?" I asked, shocked.
"I have lived with you all your life and I know the Catherine is such a bitch face with the I also want ice cream with it" Mom responded and it made both of chuckle.
"Go have fun honey because you are only 17 once and I promise 18 will be worse" She said and kissed me on the cheek.
"Thanks Mom but I think I will go with the black" I said loud enough for Mark to hear it.
"Let's head out I am ready and take this it is pretty cold out there" I said to Mark handing him my dad's coat.
"Thanks," He said.
"So why did you agree to the carnival, when you hate almost everything there?" He asked as soon as we entered his car.
"Because I know how much you love the canvial and hate is a strong word," I said, smiling.
"Okay, maybe not hate, but I am sure terrified will be the word for it," He said, and I hit him on the arm and laughed.
"You never told me why you hate clowns and carvials so much," He said as we entered the carvial grounds or scary grounds as I like to call it.
"Well, I used to adore clowns and all their works but when I was 7, I watched IT the scary movie by mistake because my big head cousin said it was a fun movie about clowns and ever since I can't do them" I explained.
"Ooh, sorry, that must have been hard at that age I watched when I was 12, and I had nightmares for weeks," He said, giving me an encouraging smile.
"But do you want to know the funny part?" I asked and he nodded.
" Well, I didn't tell my mom that I was over clowns because I promised my cousin that I won't tell my mom I watched the scary movie with any adult so my birthday was around the corner then and the theme was Carnival but mostly clowns and it was a surprise and they hired like two sorry three clowns but after the surprise and i saw the clowns I screamed, ran up to my room, locked it and cried for two hours straight. I refused everybody to come in but only my grandpa was able to get me out and my cousin was punished by all the adult because I told grandpa about it and till today he still hates me" I narrated and laughed in between.
"Wow that's crazy" He said.
"Let's stay away from clowns but the rides will be fun" He said smiling.
"Sure" I responded and with that the night ended perfectly with laughter and screams and maybe a kiss. Okay there was a kiss.
"So are you coming for Sarah's party?" He asked as he played with my hands that was in his.
"Yeah sure why are you asking?" I responded.
"Just because but I want to know something is there any chance we can be together again?" He asked.
"I will have to think about that" I said and kissed his cheek.
"Good night" I said leaving his car.
"Good night" He responded and with that the night ended and told you there was a kiss.
