Chapter 23: Shadows in the Healing Chamber

Eva's dreams were a jumbled mix of images: whispers in dark alleys, flickering candles, and forgotten faces. But one scene lingered, etched in her mind like a burning brand.

An old woman, wrinkled and wise. Her eyes, like worn leather, held deep wisdom, secrets to untold mysteries. Eva felt an inexplicable sense of trust, as if this woman held secrets of her forgotten past.

Eva's dream-self trembled, her heart pounding in her chest. The ancient woman's words echoed in her mind, "Find the Key child," she urged, her voice like rustling leaves. "It holds the secrets of your past, the truth about your bloodline." Eva's thoughts swirled, desperation clawing at her.

Eva's dream-self nodded, but the woman's words dissolved into mist.

Other visions swirled: Christian's determined face, Mika's pink hair flashing in combat, the creature they fought in the woods and Matt's brooding eyes.

Suddenly, the dreamscape shattered.

In the healing chamber, Elder Aria's soft incantations wove a protective spell around Eva's unconscious form. The air was heavy with the scent of herbs and candlelight.

Outside, darkness gathered. Three Drekavacs emerged from the shadows, their dappled, elongated bodies twisting and contorting like living darkness. Glowing yellow eyes fixed on the healing chamber.

"Target acquired," the lead Drekavac hissed, its voice like rustling leaves.

The other two Drekavacs flanked it, their forms blurring between canine and humanoid. They moved with an unsettling synchrony, their eyes burning with an otherworldly hunger.

As they approached the chamber, Christian burst in, sword at the ready. "Get back!" he warned, his voice low and deadly.

Mika followed, her pink hair aflame with fury. "You heard him, Get back."

Elder Aria's raised hee hands, weaving a protective spell at the entrance of the chamber, her eyes locked on the Drekavacs. "You shall not pass."

The Drekavacs lunged at them, their claws swiping at the air. Christian and Mika charged forward, swords clashing with the darkness.

Eva remained lost in her dreams, unaware of the battle raging around her.

Christian's sword sliced through the darkness, the sound echoing off the chamber's walls. Mika's pink hair flashed, her movements fluid. "I've got your back, Christian." As they fought, Elder Aria stood in the corner muttering series of protective spells around the chamber that would prevent the Drekavacs from entering.

Christian's mind raced with worry, his sword strikes fueled by a desperate need to protect Eva. Mika's eyes blazed with fury, her movements precise.

The chamber's candles flickered, casting eerie shadows. Christian's sword clashed with the Drekavac's claws, sparks flying like fireflies. Mika's pink hair whipped around her face as she dodged. The air reeked of sweat and ozone.Swords clashed. Claws scraped. Christian parried. Mika struck.

After what felt like hours, Christian's sword sliced through one of the Drekavacs' twisted form, releasing a shower of dark energy. Taking advantage of the situation, Mika kicked the injured drekavac sending it crashing into the wall.

When the other two Drekavacs saw that their leader had been defeated, they fled, abandoning their mission to capture Eva.

As the last Drekavac vanished into the darkness, Christian's gaze shifted to Eva's fragile form. His heart swelled with relief, but it was short-lived. Eva's eyelids fluttered open, revealing eyes that had transformed into pools of pure white. The sudden change sent a shiver down Christian's spine.

Mika's voice broke the silence. "Eva, can you hear us?"

Eva's response was a haunting whisper. "The Key... I need to find the key" Her white eyes seemed to bore into the very soul of the chamber.

The room fell silent, the only sound heard was Eva's soft, rhythmic breathing. Her pure white eyes continued to gaze into the unknown, as if beckoned by an unseen force.

"What's wrong with Eva?" Mika asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
