Chapter 22★
The institution's imposing wall structure loomed before them, its intricate carvings glowed softly under the moonlight. Anaxagoras wings beat steadily as he descended onto the expansive courtyard of the Goat Wing, his scales glistening with dew.
As Anaxagoras landed, the courtyard's silence was broken by the soft clatter of his scales. The scent of damp earth and herbs wafted up, mingling with the dewy air. Sarah slid off his back, her eyes fixed on Eva's limp form, her face etched with worry. She immediately called for the head healer, Elder Aria.
Elder Aria emerged from the Wing's entrance, flanked by two hooded shadows, " Bring her to the East wing healing chamber," she instructed, her eyes locked on Eva. " We must analyze the poison now, before it's too late. Every moment counts."
As they hastened into the East wing, the scents of sandalwood and lavender enveloped them, mingling with the soft glow of candles. The air vibrated with urgency.
The hooded shadows laid Eva down on the bed, the soft creak of the wooden frame echoing through the chamber. Her hands moved swiftly, preparing a concoction of herbs and crystals to counteract the poison.
Elder Aria's hands danced across the workbench, measuring out pinches os moonstone and silverleaf. The hooded shadow watched with an unnerving intensity, their faces hidden behind silken veils.
Sarah paced beside the bed, her eyes fixed on Eva's pales face. " Will she be okay?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Elder Aria's expression remained focused, her brows furrowed in concentration. "The is potent, but I've seen it's like before. We must flush it from her system before it spreads further." As she spoke, she added a final dash of silver salts to the concoction. The mixture shimmered, releasing a soothing fragrance that filled the chamber.
"Hold her down,"she instructed, her voice firm yet gentle. "This will not be pleasant."
The hooded shadows compliantly pinned Eva's limbs down. Just as Elder Aria was about to administer the concoction, Mika and Christian burst into the chamber, their faces etched with worry. Mika's eyes red-rimmed from crying, locked onto Eva's pale form.
" How is she?" Mika asked, her voice trembling. "Eva, oh please..."
Christian's expression turned grim, his jaw clenched in concern.
Elder Aria's gaze flicked to the newcomers, her expression measured. "We're about to administer the antidote. Timing is crucial."
Mika held Eva's hands, silently praying for her friend to be fine.
As Elder Aria administered the concoction, Eva's body convulsed. A blood-curling scream escaped from her lips, and she thrashed against the hooded shadows' grip.
Mika's eyes widened in horror, her hands clinging to Eva's as if holding on for her dear life. "Eva, no! Oh, please!"
Christian as well as Sarah's face pales, their jaw clenched in concern as they watched everything going on.
The hooded shadows strained to hold Eva down, their veils slipping, revealing glimpse of stern faces.
Elder Aria expression remained steadfast, her gaze fixed on Eva's writhing form. " The poison is being purged. This is expected."
As Eva's screams subsided, her skin began to flush with a deep crimson hue. Black, oily droplets beaded on her pores, trickling down her face and arms like dark, viscous tears.
"The poison's residue," Elder Aria explained, her voice calm. "It must be expelled fully."
Mika's grip on Eva's hands tightened. " Will she be okay?" She whispered.
Elder Aria's gaze met Mika's, her expression measured. " The next few moments will tell."
