Valyria was skipping through the halls. It had been an entire day since her sister had given birth and she couldn't wait to meet the babe. Rhaenyra had always been a wonderful sister to her and now Valyria was going to try her best to be just as supportive.
Valyria had a basket filled with the most beautiful blue flowers she could find in the garden. Word had spread the babe was a boy and Valyria was excited. She had also carved a small dragon out of wood and placed in between all of the flowers. For when the babe grew up he could play with it.
When she made it to her sister's chambers she knocked loud enough for someone to hear. "Come in." Rhaenyra called out.
Valyria let herself in and when she made eye contact with her sister she smiled and let out a breath knowing she was okay. "Nyra!" Valyria placed the basket down on a chair and ran to her sister who held her arms open.
"Valyria. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at your lessons?" Rhaenyra held her sister close.
"Of course I should be. But sister you know I had to come see you. I was told to let you rest and I did. I just had to come make sure you were alright." Valyria pulled away and sat on her knees in front of her sister looking at her. Valyria had heard of women dying in childbirth, Rhaenyra's mom being one of them.
Valyria couldn't imagine loosing her mother in such a way nor could she stand the idea that one day her family wouldn't be alive. She wanted everyone to live long and stay together forever, for they were a family.
"Yes my dear, I'm quite alright. Would you like to see the babe?" Valyria nodded before Rhaenyra called for a servant to bring young Joffrey over to the sisters. Rhaenyra patted the seat next to her and Valyria quickly sat in the space waiting for the servant to return with the babe.
Finally the servant brought the boy and placed him into the young princess' arms. "Aren't you just adorable." She touched the babes face softly. He was sleeping peacefully. "What's his name?" Valyria looked away from the gorgeous baby in her arms.
"Joffrey." Rhaenyra smiled softly before putting her arm around her sister and pulling her close. With her other arm she reached over and held her baby's hand with her finger.
"Hello Joffrey." Valyria whispered down to the baby. "Im your aunt Valyria and I promise to protect you with my life." The girl leaned down and kissed Joffrey's forehead before handing him to his mother.
"I'm glad you came to see me dear. I have a gift for you." Rhaenyra called for a woman to grab the baby before trying to sit up by herself. Valyria quickly stood and helped her stand up as gently as possible.
"I have a gift for you Nyra!" Valyria quickly ran over to her basket and brought it over. The flowers are for you and the dragon is for Joffrey." Rhaenyra started tearing up. No one has given her stuff after her births with the other two. For her younger half sister to do so made her cry.
"Why are you crying? Do you not like them? I could go pick some more!" Valyria frowned.
"I love them my darling sister. No one has given me presents when I have given birth. They're happy tears. Thank you." She pulled her sister into a tight hug and cried softly. "Here is my gift to you." Rhaenyra held her hand out and pulled a ring off of it. Valyria had never seen her wear it before but it was beautiful.
The ring was a dragon literally wrapping around her finger. Except instead of matching Rhaenyra's dragon it matched Azura, for the dragon was a deep blue and had gold all around it. The eyes were two different gems. One was green and the other black.
"The colors of your dragon and your houses. For you are Targaryen and Hightower." Rhaenyra smiled softly to her sister who started crying silently.
"I love it Nyra!" Valyria jumped up and wrapped her arms around her older sister. "You're the best sister ever!"
Rhaenyra smiled and held onto her half sister. Rhaenyra knew that if anyone deserved happiness in the world it's Valyria. The young girl loved when everyone was happy and did all she could to make each and every person she came across smile.
"I have to go show everyone! Thank you Nyra!" Valyria hopped off of her older half sister and left the room running to show all of her family and the guards about her newest prized possession.
