That night the King had requested his family in its entirety would have dinner together. Valyria had worn an ivory colored dress that matched Helaena's. Aegon was insistent that she matched him instead but Valyria chose the prettier dress.

At the moment Helaena and Valyria were sitting side by side while Aegon and Aemond were talking a few feet away from them. Jace, Luke, Rhaena and Baela were on the other side of the table in their one conversation. Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent and Otto Hightower were sitting across from the children silent as could be.

The doors to the room opened and knights brought in King Viserys on a carrying chair. They placed him in the open space between the Queen Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra.

"How good it is... to see you all tonight... together." He spoke out of breath.

"Prayer before we begin?" Alicent asked.

"Yes." He answered weakly.

Valyria clasped her hands together before closing her eyes. "May the mother smile down on this gathering with love. May the smith mend the bonds that have been broken for far too long. And to Vaemond Velaryon, may the gods give him rest."

"This in an occasion for celebration it seems." The King took a breath. "My grandsons, Jace and Luke, will marry their cousins Baela and Rhaena. Further strengthening the bond between our houses. A toast to the young Princes and their betrothed."

"Hear, Hear!" Daemon cheered loudly.

"Well done, Jace. You'll finally get to lie with a woman." Aegon whispered loudly to the boy. Baela and Valyria glared at Aegon. He had no reason to say such a thing. Valyria elbowed him sharply in his side.

"Let us toast as well Prince Lucerys... The Future Lord of the Tides." The King faced his grandson.

"Hear, hear." Rhaenyra held her cup up along with the others.

"You'll be great." Rhaena leaned over to Luke.

"You do know, how the act is done, I assume? At least in principle? Where to put your cock and all that?" Aegon leaned his arm over the back of Jace's chair.

"Aegon! Leave him alone." Valyria hissed at her husband.

"You can play the Jester if you wish, but hold your tongue before my betrothed." Jace scolded him. "And your wife." He added.

Aegon glared but knew he couldn't do anything while in the presence of the King and their mothers. Aegon nodded and moved back to his seat and sat back in his chair.

The King stood, not without struggle, from his chair. "It both gladdens my heart... and fills me with sorrow... to see these faces around the table. The faces most dear to me in all the world... yet grown so distant... in the years past." He took another breath before reaching up to take off his mask.

The King looked around the room before settling on his daughter. He was missing one of his eyes and his face was wasting away. Valyria couldn't continue to look at him so she looked down at the table instead.

"My own face... is no longer a handsome one... if indeed it ever was. But tonight... I wish you to see me... as I am. Not just a king... but your father... your brother... your husband... and your grandsire who may not it seems walk for much longer among you." He continued to struggle for his breath. "Let us no longer hold ill feelings in our hearts. The crown cannot stand strong if the House of the Dragon remains divided." He was scolding everyone at the table. It was no secret they all had their differences.

"But set aside your grievances. If not for the sake of the Crown.. then for the sake of this old man... who loves you all so dearly." The four Targaryen children didn't believe that. He said he loved them but of course he never acted like it. Viserys sat back in his chair breathlessly.
