End it all

Hyunjin's head throbbed as consciousness began to seep back in. The cold, damp air wrapped around him, chilling his skin as he blinked his eyes open. His vision was blurry at first, but soon, the harsh fluorescent lights overhead came into focus. He was underground—somewhere deep beneath the earth, a basement or bunker. The walls were made of cracked concrete, the smell of mold and rust heavy in the air.

His arms felt numb, pinned painfully behind him. It took him a moment to realize that his hands were bound, glued together tightly, making any movement impossible. His breathing quickened, heart thudding against his ribcage as panic set in. He tried to move his legs but found them tied to the chair he was sitting on. Surrounding him were guards—stone-faced and armed, their eyes cold and unfeeling as they stood like statues against the walls.

Suddenly, the heavy metal door creaked open with an echoing groan. Hyunjin's heart sank deeper into his chest as his boss walked in, his footsteps slow and deliberate. The man moved with a sickening calm, a cruel smile playing at the corners of his lips as he approached. He wore an expensive suit, as always—immaculate, untouchable—but there was a madness in his eyes, one that Hyunjin had learned to fear.

"Well, well," the boss began, his voice a chilling purr, "I must admit, Hyunjin, I'm impressed. You managed to survive much longer than I anticipated. A survivor through and through." He stepped closer, circling Hyunjin like a predator toying with its prey. The guards stood silently, watching the scene unfold.

Hyunjin clenched his jaw, his body tense with fear and anger, but he kept his gaze steady, refusing to let his panic show. He wouldn't give this man the satisfaction.

The boss stopped in front of him, tilting his head slightly as he regarded Hyunjin. "I want to see it," he said softly, almost to himself. Without warning, he reached down and yanked Hyunjin's sweater up, revealing the scar on his side—the mark left from the bullet wound he had barely survived. The boss let out a low, twisted chuckle as his fingers traced the jagged skin.

"A beautiful reminder of your tenacity," he mused, his smile widening, eyes alight with a twisted fascination. "You're like a cockroach, Hyunjin. No matter how many times I try to crush you, you keep crawling back." He let go of the sweater, allowing it to fall back into place, but the smile never left his face.

Hyunjin felt bile rising in his throat. The touch of the man's fingers, the sick amusement in his eyes, it made his skin crawl. He wanted to lash out, to scream, but his body was paralyzed—both by the bonds and the suffocating realization of how trapped he was.

The boss leaned closer, lowering his voice to a deadly whisper. "You know, I could've killed you a dozen times over by now. But I have other plans for you."

Hyunjin's blood ran cold. His mind raced, trying to predict what was coming, but nothing could have prepared him for the next words that left the man's mouth.

"You're going to do some dirty work for me, my boy," the boss said, his smile growing even more sinister. "You'll work for me, follow every command without question. And if you even think about defying me..." He paused, savoring the moment before delivering the blow.

"I have Felix."

Hyunjin's heart stopped. He stared up at the man, his chest tightening, a wave of nausea hitting him so hard he thought he might pass out. Felix. The name rang through his head like a bell, drowning out everything else. His breath came in shallow gasps, his thoughts spinning out of control.

The boss leaned in closer, his breath hot against Hyunjin's ear. "And in case you think I'm bluffing," he whispered, "I killed V."

Time seemed to freeze around him. The words echoed in Hyunjin's mind, bouncing off the walls of his skull as if they were unreal. V? Dead? It couldn't be. V was strong, capable. He was the one who always had Felix's back. He was the one who would've protected him. But now—gone?

Hyunjin's vision blurred with tears that he couldn't control. He felt the walls closing in, his body trembling as his mind spiraled into darkness. Felix was in danger, and V—V was dead. His only lifeline, his one remaining hope, had been severed.

"You're lying," Hyunjin choked out, his voice raw, barely above a whisper. He couldn't believe it. He wouldn't believe it. But the grin on his boss's face said otherwise. It was a grin of triumph, of complete control.

"Oh, I never lie, Hyunjin," the boss said softly. "You should know that by now."

Hyunjin's world crumbled around him. Everything he had fought for, every ounce of strength he had used to survive—it was all for nothing. He had nothing left. No way out. His mind screamed at him to fight back, to escape, but his body was frozen in place, suffocated by the crushing weight of hopelessness.

He couldn't save Felix.

He couldn't save anyone.

The boss straightened up, brushing off his suit as if this was just another day at the office. "You'll do as I say," he continued, his voice calm, almost cheerful now. "And maybe, just maybe, I'll let you see Felix again. But only if you behave."

Hyunjin's body went slack, the fight draining from him completely. His hands were still bound, his mind still trapped in a haze of despair. All he could do was stare at the floor, his heart shattered, his will to resist crushed.

The boss turned to leave, signaling to the guards. "Take him to his cell," he ordered. "We have a lot of work to do."

As they grabbed Hyunjin, pulling him to his feet, the weight of his situation crashed down on him like a tidal wave. His life, his freedom, his future—it was all gone. And as they dragged him away, the only thing he could think about was Felix. How he had failed him. How he had lost him.

And how, despite everything, he still loved him.
