Felix's POV
Felix sat in the corner of a small, dimly lit coffee shop, stirring his untouched coffee with a shaky hand. His mind buzzed with the heavy news he had just learned, his heart pounding against his chest. Hyunjin—alive, but trapped, being used like a puppet by his father. He couldn't believe it. He didn't want to.
The bell over the entrance rang softly as the door opened, and Felix snapped his head up. In walked Mrs. Park, the old maid who had worked for his family for years. She was the one good thing in that house when Felix was younger—always gentle, always understanding. Felix had tracked her down, desperate for information. If anyone knew where his father was hiding, it would be her.
Mrs. Park spotted him, her face softening with concern as she approached the table. Felix stood up to greet her, pulling out a chair for her to sit.
"Felix, dear," she said, her voice low and laced with worry. "You've grown so much, but you still look like that lost boy I used to know. What's going on?"
Felix sat back down, his hands gripping the edge of the table. "I need your help. I don't know who else to turn to. My father... he has Hyunjin. He's using him, controlling him somehow."
Mrs. Park's face paled. She placed her hand over Felix's, her fingers trembling slightly. "I thought you might come asking about that."
Felix's heart skipped a beat. "So, it's true? Hyunjin is alive?"
Mrs. Park nodded slowly, her eyes full of sorrow. "Yes, but he's not the Hyunjin you remember. Your father... he's done something terrible to that poor boy. They're using him, making him do awful things."
Felix swallowed hard, his throat tight. "How? How could they make him—?"
"I don't know the full details," Mrs. Park interrupted gently, "but there are rumors. I still have friends in that world. They say your father has a way of breaking people, making them do his bidding. Drugs, torture, manipulation—it could be any number of things."
Felix clenched his fists, anger bubbling up inside him. "I need to find him. I need to get Hyunjin out of there."
Mrs. Park looked down at the table, her expression conflicted. After a long pause, she finally spoke again. "Your father moved. He's not in the same place anymore. He's... relocated to a different city, running his operations from somewhere new. But I do know this—there's an underground facility where they keep people like Hyunjin. People who are broken, trained to kill, to follow orders without question."
Felix felt a wave of nausea wash over him. The thought of Hyunjin being one of those people—mindless, forced to do unspeakable things—it made his skin crawl.
"Do you know where this facility is?" Felix asked, his voice shaky.
Mrs. Park hesitated, glancing around as if afraid someone might overhear. "I can't say for sure, but I've heard whispers about a place outside the city. It's hidden, heavily guarded. Getting in will be dangerous, Felix."
Felix leaned forward, desperation etched into his features. "I don't care how dangerous it is. I need to find him. Please, if you know anything—anything at all—help me."
Mrs. Park sighed, her shoulders slumping under the weight of the request. "I... I'll give you what I know. There's an old contact, someone who used to work for your father. He's not involved anymore, but he might still have information. I'll send you his details. But Felix, promise me you'll be careful. Your father is not the same man you knew. He's more dangerous than ever."
Felix nodded, though the fire in his chest was already blazing. "Thank you, Mrs. Park. I'll be careful, but I can't let this go. I can't leave Hyunjin in that nightmare."
She looked at him with sad eyes, her hand squeezing his one last time before she stood to leave. "You were always a kind boy, Felix. Just... don't lose yourself in this. Saving him doesn't mean you have to sacrifice everything."
Felix watched her leave, her words lingering in his mind. He felt like he was teetering on the edge of something dark, but he couldn't turn back now. He wouldn't. Hyunjin needed him, and that was all that mattered.
Just as he was gathering his thoughts, planning his next move, the door to the coffee shop slammed open with a loud crash. Felix flinched, his heart racing as he looked up. V was standing there, glaring at him with furious eyes.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, Felix?" V marched over to the table, his voice low but filled with anger. "You've been sneaking around, haven't you? I've been looking for you everywhere!"
Felix frowned, trying to stay calm. "V, I—"
"Don't 'V' me!" V slammed his hands down on the table, making the cups rattle. "You think I don't know what you're up to? Going after your father? That's suicide, Felix. You're walking straight into hell, and for what?"
Felix stood up, his own frustration bubbling over. "For Hyunjin! They have him, V. They're using him as some kind of weapon. I can't just sit here and do nothing."
V's expression softened for a moment at the mention of Hyunjin, but his anger quickly returned. "And what are you going to do, Felix? You don't even know where they're keeping him. You don't know how they've got him under control. What's your plan? Just waltz in there and demand they let him go?"
"I'll figure it out," Felix snapped. "I have a lead now, something solid. I can't just sit by while Hyunjin suffers because of my father."
V's jaw clenched as he looked at Felix, his anger mixing with concern. "Do you even hear yourself right now? You're not thinking straight. Your father's not just some petty criminal. He's powerful, Felix. You can't take him down alone."
Felix glared at him, his chest heaving with frustration. "I don't care! I've already lost so much. I'm not losing Hyunjin too."
V sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Felix... you're going to get yourself killed."
Felix looked away, the weight of everything pressing down on him. He knew V was right—he was in over his head—but he couldn't stop. Not now.
"I have to do this," Felix said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. "For Hyunjin."
For a long moment, V didn't say anything. Then, with a heavy sigh, he sat down across from Felix, his eyes softening with reluctant understanding. "Fine. But you're not doing this alone. If you're really going after your father, then we do it right. We plan. We gather intel. We don't just rush in blind."
Felix nodded, the tension in his body easing slightly. "Alright. We'll do it together."
But deep down, Felix knew that no matter how much they planned, no matter how much they prepared, this was going to be a war. And he wasn't sure either of them would survive it.
