paradox of his words

You said you don't,
But you want to,
Say you wouldn't,
But u do.

Why do you make me promises,
If your actions speak a different volume.

I say I hate you,
We both know I don't,
You say I love you,
Even if I know it's not true,
It's the only thing you say that I can make myself believe.

If not for believing,
For the fear of loving and not receiving.

Heavy and consuming,
a bittersweet tether
to the truth I can’t escape.
I cling to what you give,
even as it tears me apart,
caught in the paradox
of wanting you
and knowing I shouldn’t.

Must be punishment for loving someone,
Who never gave me a reason to love.

Stupidity for trying I suppose,
Was it worth the suffering?

For needing the one who always needed me.

Even for a moment of your time?

Desiring the one,
who. never. desired. me.

But you said you did.
