Part 1 revisedIt was Friday morning when Sam's alarm started going off. Usually, he'd ignore it and go right back to sleep, but he was excited about today. It was the first day of school. He climbed out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. His brother Cole was already on his way to the bathroom, but Sam pushed him aside, went in, and locked the door.
"Hey! I was here first, Sam!" shouted Cole.
"Next time be faster!" called out Sam from the shower.Cole rolled his eyes and went downstairs, where he found me in the kitchen making breakfast. I had made pancakes, which were the boys' favorite.
"Morning, Cole!" I said while mixing more pancake mix.
"Dad, why do I have to share a bathroom with Sam? Can't I just use your bathroom? You know I'm very good at cleaning up after myself," said Cole.
"You and your brother need to learn how to get along. I'm the man of the house, so I deserve my own bathroom. Plus, I don't want you randomly going into my room just to use the restroom," I said.Cole sighed and sat at the kitchen table.
"You can use our bathroom. We're both ready anyway," said Eli as he and Henry came downstairs.
"Thank you," said Cole as he kissed Eli on top of the head and ran upstairs.
"I'm surprised Sam's even up this early; he's usually always late," said Henry.
"I heard Aries and his family came back from their summer vacation last night. Sam's just excited because he has a crush on him," said Eli.Eli was right; Sam was trying to make the best of today since Aries was finally back from his vacation after being gone all summer long. Sam and Aries had grown up together their whole lives since their parents were close, and eventually, by the time both boys were 13, they had fallen in love with each other. It wasn't until they were 14 that they finally became an official couple. Sam didn't really have many friends, so he spent all of his free time with Aries. It was going to be a very lonely spring break without him. He wore his best clothes, sprayed some of his best-smelling cologne, and ran downstairs to the kitchen.
Cole was already sitting at the table and rolled his eyes when Sam entered the room. Sam stuck his tongue out at him and whispered,
"Loser."I filled all of their plates with pancakes and sat at the table with them.
"I've been seeing on the news lately that parents are injecting their kids with this power-giving formula, so I want you boys to be careful while you're out there. Try not to make any enemies because you never know what kind of ability these kids can have," I said, looking at Sam.
"Why are you looking at me?" asked Sam, annoyed.
"Why do you think? You're always getting into fights with everyone," said Cole.
"Nobody asked you, dickhead!" snapped Sam."Enough! The two of you need to learn to get along! You're brothers! Love each other!" I said. Sam and Cole looked at each other, remained silent, and continued to eat their food.
"Hey Dad, can we get powers too someday?" asked Eli.I nearly choked on the piece of pancake I was eating. Eli and the others looked at me, confused.
"Umm... that's something we should talk about another time. You guys better hurry, or else you'll be late!" I said quickly as I got up and grabbed all of their empty plates. They quickly left to grab their backpacks and headed out to school. I sat back down and let out a huge sigh.
"I'll tell them soon," I said quietly to myself.Sam quickly left the house and ran across the street to Aries's house. He knocked on the door and was greeted by Aries's dad, Tanner.
"Bruh, what do you want?" asked Tanner.
"I'm here for Aries," Sam said impatiently.
"He and the others already left for school 20 minutes ago. Now get out of here; I gotta take a dump," said Tanner as he closed the door.
