Chapter 9

Michelle , Tanner and Aries slowly started walking toward us. "Alright , I want you all to get out of here. I'll hold them off for as long as I can." I said. Sam and Cole looked at me confused. "What?! No Dad! You can't take them all on yourself! Let us fight with you too! We've spent all this time training just for moments like this! Let us fight alongside with you!" Said Cole. I looked down at all of their determined faces and smiled. "You're right. I keep forgetting that you aren't little kids that need my protection anymore. Michelle's strong , even I may not be able to handle her if she unleashes her full strength so I'll handle her on my own. Cole , you take on Tanner while Sam....try to get through to Aries. I can tell by the look on his face that he's conflicted about all of this. Eli and Henry , be on standby and be ready to assist either of us if necessary." I said. "You got it Dad , let's show them the power of the Tamarian's!" Said Eli. I looked back at him and smiled. "Your uncle Brecht would be proud of all of you." I said. Sam and Cole looked at each other and nodded. "Alright , let's get this shit over with. Ice Armor." Said Tanner as he created a durable suit of armor around his body. Michelle clenched her sword and charged at Sam again. I stood in front of him and blocked her sword with a telekinetic barrier. "Go!" I shouted to the others. Cole flew directly at Tanner and tackled into his armor. Eli and Henry jumped back and waited to assist. Sam teleported over to where Aries was standing. Aries swung his sword at Sam but Sam followed my example and blocked it with a telekinetic barrier. "Aries , why are you doing this? You really want to kill me?" Asked Sam. "No but I have to. If I don't then my entire family will die. I can't let them down." Said Aries as he reached for Sam's arm. Sam teleported behind him and pinned him to the ground from behind. "I don't want to hurt you. I love you." Said Sam. Aries grew angry and then suddenly his entire body began to freeze. Sam quickly jumped to the air and when Aries turned around he fired a blast of ice directly at Sam and froze his arms. Sam tried to break free from the ice but he couldn't. "That ice is infused with my angelic energy. No Demon could break free from it." Said Aries. "You really aren't making this easy." Said Sam. He then turned around to where Aries was. "Cole! Help me out!" He called out. Cole flew from where Tanner was and then tackled into Aries. "Can't you just break free from that using my strength?" Asked Cole. "No it's some angelic shit. You're probably the only one in the family who wouldn't be affected from this stuff." Said Sam. Cole punched the ice and it shattered instantly. "He's not listening to me. I don't think I can fight him." Said Sam. Cole put his hand on Sam's shoulder. "Here , I'll do it." Said Cole. Sam nodded and then flew towards Tanner. Meanwhile,  I kept Michelle back by blocking her sword swings with telekinesis but the faster she got the harder it was becoming to do so. After a while she finally out sped me and nearly slashed me across the shoulder. "You really thought a trick like that would work on me for long?" Asked Michelle. "No , but I needed a little warm up. It's been a while since fought a tough opponent like you. Good thing I came prepared." I said as I held my hand out towards the forest behind us. A few moments later and my sword flew into my hand. Michelle was surprised. "You knew we were coming after you?" She asked. "I did but I didn't know it was going to be you that they send. You know how much I care about you and your family but you're trying to kill my son and tear apart my family so I won't be holding back." I said as I slowly started unleashing my demonic energy which caused the ground around us to shake. I quickly put on my sword belt and held onto the hilt of my sword. "Secret Technique: Demonic quick draw!" I called out as I unsheathed my sword so fast that Michelle wasn't able to block in time and it cut her across the chest. I then sent her flying backward with a telekinetic push and she hit and landed on Tanner and Aries. "Whoa! That was so badass!!!!" Shouted Eli. I laughed and then walked toward Michelle. "Are you alright?" Asked Tanner. "Yeah , just as we thought, these guys are tough opponents. I guess I've been letting my feelings cloud my judgement. It's time I start taking this battle more seriously." Said Michelle. She stood up and raised her sword into the sky and she suddenly began to glow. "You're finally unleashing your angelic energy , guess you really are getting serious." I said. Michelle disappeared and then reappeared behind me and before I could block her attack she slashed me across my left shoulder. I could feel my wound burning due to the special holy steel that Michelle's blade was forged from. Sam and Cole quickly noticed that I was wounded. "Dad!" They both shouted together. "I'll be alright! Focus on the fight in front of you!" I called out.
