At last, my VIP patient is finally home with me. As expected, Faye executed the plan flawlessly, just as I had asked. It was chaotic, dangerous, but after all the hardships, it was worth the risk. The very next day, my face was all over the news and tabloids, stating that I had committed a great crime by stealing money and some important medical equipment—which is somewhat true but slightly exaggerated. Deep down, I know they'll keep information about Milk under wraps. After all, if the public found out that a luxurious hospital lost a class-A patient, the establishment would face more outrage and countless lawsuits.
My precious reputation was shattered, but I can say I allowed it to happen. As long as Milk is safe from the hands of the true villains, whatever they say to bring me down is powerless to hurt me. One day, the truth will come to light. Justice will be served on a golden platter, and only fools won't see it.
Milk looks strangely peaceful tonight. Maybe she knows she's finally in safe hands. We managed to get a bit of electricity to power her machines and medical equipment—unauthorized, of course. I asked Namtan, another mischievous friend, to help me get an illegal electricity connection for the cabin because I can't afford to pay bills right now. All our funds have to go toward Milk's care.
Even though I hadn't been in touch with Namtan for a while, she never judged me for how I've chosen to live. In fact, she was worried about me and the trouble I'd gotten into. She used to be a thug but turned her life around after getting hired as a personal driver by the famous actress Film. She once saved Film's life during a fan stampede. What a lucky, badass woman. I know I can always count on her. She and Yoko's gang even promised to protect Milk and me at all times. With them keeping us safe and hidden from law enforcement, I can worry a little less.
Around midnight, I visited another close friend, or at least I thought she was. But the moment she saw even the slightest glimpse of my shadow outside her condo, she pointed a Nerf rifle at my face, forcing me to raise my hands in surrender. She yelled at me to get lost before I brought trouble to her door—as if she's living a decent life herself. She's a full-fledged hacker, a genius like me, and from what I know, she's the reason internet fraud is so widespread.
"View, I really need your help. Why don't you put your genius brain to good use and help me earn some decent money?"
"Hah, coming from the person whose face is all over social media, wanted by the police for causing trouble during her internship. How noble of you."
"I don't need to explain everything to you. I know you've already got the scoop on me and those ridiculous accusations. But I really need to earn money right now, especially since I can't get a job."
"So, what do you want me to do? Give you a new fake identity? Find you some shady online job that pays well but will make you regret wasting your time in that damn university? Or maybe you want me to send a bunch of viruses to that hospital that's giving you so much grief? Just tell me what you need so you can leave me in peace."
"Oh, that's actually a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Do that, but also can you—"
"Let me guess—hack the confidential details of that patient named Milk Pansa, the one you're so obsessed with that you committed a crime just to be with her? You want me to reunite her with her family and friends? I get it, I know what's going on. I can read you like a book."
I couldn't help but hug her. "You're such a wonderful weirdo, View. You never disappoint! How I've missed having a genius friend like you to talk to. You always make me proud, buddy!"
"You and your disgusting compliments. You shameless, opportunistic little human."
That's how View shows she misses me—by pretending not to care. No long conversations needed. She'll simply hack the information I need. I know deep down she was worried about the news and everything that happened. She probably looked me and Milk up before I even visited, making sure she wasn't getting into too much trouble by helping me clear my name online. Isn't she just the sweetest genius hacker?

I got a new job! A suspicious one, to be honest, but who cares. I'm now a virtual assistant for an elite chemist, businessman, and politician from some remote country I barely know. The good news is, I can still take care of Milk while working 24/7 online. I somehow managed to 'borrow' View's old laptop, which she claims is worth more than my entire existence. But I can't afford my own right now, and even if I could, there's no way I'd buy a new one—I'm a full-blooded thrifty person, after all.
I've never stopped searching for a cure for Milk. What's the point of having a genius brain if I can't even figure out how to heal her? That's when the information I got from View began to unravel all my suspicions.
"I have her data," View said, a hint of pride in her voice. I could tell she'd been challenged by the task but had come out victorious. Just as I was about to grab the file from her hand, she snatched it back.
"You like her, don't you?" she teased.
"View, that's the dumbest thing I've heard. Just give it to me already, you idiot!"
"I'm warning you. She's bad news, babe. I bet when she wakes up, she'll leave you for another chic. Just saying."
"What kind of nonsense are you talking about, bro? So, what if she falls in love and gets married to someone she adores? It's her life. Who am I to interfere? I'm her doctor, not her lover, you fool!"
"You're her tiny hero, Ciize. The more you care for her, the more attached you'll get. And worse, you might fall for her."
"What K-drama have you been watching, View? You're such a hopeless romantic."
"I'm just speaking from experience, you know. That's how June fell in love with me—always taking care of me while I stayed distant from her and the world."
"You and your cheesy girlfriend! Anyway, thanks for everything. I owe you and June a coffee date."
"No thanks. I'd rather keep her and our romantic dates to ourselves. Tiny humans not invited."
"You—just give it to me already, you fool! I need to thoroughly scan that information!"
"Best of luck, babe. Or should I say, future babe of the sleeping beauty."
"You and your twisted imagination! I'm her doctor, not her love interest, dimwit!"
