"No, I won't introduce you to Film or let you get anywhere near her. I don't want her involved in any of this trouble. Use me instead—I'll be your bait, your puppy, whatever you need—just don't drag my girl into this plan." Namtan flat-out refused to cooperate. View and I had been trying to convince her non-stop, but the moment Film's name came up, she folded like an origami crane.
"We're not going to get her into any trouble. We just need a reason to attend the event and meet her co-star, Kapook," I explained, trying to make her understand, but she still wouldn't budge.
"How am I supposed to introduce you, Ciize? Your face has been plastered all over the news! You're a fugitive, and worst of all, my best friend!" she said dramatically. Honestly, she and View were two of a kind, always making a fuss over everything.
"That's why we'll ask June to give me a makeover. She can reveal my hidden elegant side, and I'm sure no one will recognize me. Besides, View has almost wiped all the digital photos of me from social media. They won't even know it's the same Ciize they've been looking for."
"But what about the printed tabloids? What if someone sees them and figures it out?" Namtan asked, clearly overthinking.
"You're worrying too much, my friend. It's not like you've never done something mischievous before," I teased.
"Not to Film—I would never cause her any trouble."
"You already have, by making her wait in vain for your love confession, you idiot!" I shot back.
View was getting impatient. "Oh, come on, you two! Don't make June wait any longer. She's not a miracle worker, and she doesn't have all day to transform Ciize's beauty. Let's go, or we'll be late for the event!"
-----
As promised by her personal makeup artist, June, Ciize was astonishingly transformed into an elegant lady. She looked like one of the celebrities—an absolute goddess. Even her closest friends could hardly believe it was the same person they had been arguing with moments earlier. Her beauty was extraordinary.
"Where did you hide the midget? My tiny bestie? Oh my, did she just undergo a massive plastic surgery to look as gorgeous as this woman in front of us?" Namtan teased Ciize with exaggerated humor.
"You look so hot, by the way. Can you be my date?" View joked, but not to Ciize, the obvious beauty—she was directing the comment at June, the makeup artist.
"Why are you all acting ridiculous? As if I'm not capable of being this stunning," Ciize retorted. Then she caught sight of herself in the mirror. "Wow, who is this splendid woman staring back at me? Oh my, I can barely believe this transformation."
"June, I look so magnificently pretty! Can I not wash my face for a month now?" Ciize's playful remark made everyone burst into laughter.
"Stop with the nonsense. Believe it or not, you look incredibly attractive today. I bet everyone will be drooling over you, or saying yes to your every request. You're going to break a lot of hearts tonight, baby," Namtan added, sincerely boosting Ciize's confidence for her upcoming mission.
