"I told you to stay home today, look at us now - we're both drenched!", Dad said, dropping me off at the university gates. We are completely drenched from head to toe in this heavy rain.
"I know, Dad, but the weather was great when we left home," I replied while attempting to dry myself off. He sigh.
"Okay bye dad, I should go now"
"Bye sweetie but try to dry yourself." He said.
I wave goodbye to him. As I turned and entered the college gates, bracing myself for the rain-soaked walk to my classroom.
I walked through the hallway, as I noticed many students were also soaked from the rain.
I spotted Sherlin sitting on the stairs and chatting with other guys. I waved to her, and she acknowledged my presence with a smile.
She looked up as I approached her, her usual cheerful attitude replaced by a look of annoyance. "Girl, you're all soaked! You should have taken a leave today," she replied, gesturing towards my dripping clothes.
I nodded, "Yeah, Dad said the same thing. But when I left home, the weather was perfectly fine," I replied with a shrug, trying to shake off the excess water from my hair.
She looked at me with a hint of concern, "Are you going to stay like that all day?" I glanced down at my drenched clothes, realizing I probably looked like a walking puddle.
I tried to sound unbothered as I replied, "It'll dry off. I'll just sit in front of the AC in class." But Deep down, I knew I probably looked ridiculous, but I didn't want to admit it.
As Sherlin and I were chatting, I noticed Mihir and Vihaan walking towards us. I stopped mid-sentence, distracted by their presence.
Vihaan walked up to us, wrapping his arms around Sherlin in a playful manner. He then turned to me and quipped, "Someone forgot her umbrella" as he planted a kiss on Sherlin's cheek.
I couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed, and I sheepishly replied, "Yeah..." I self-consciously adjusted my messy hair, knowing that I likely looked like a wet mess.
I could feel Mihir's gaze on me, his eyes seemingly studying me from head to toe. I shifted uncomfortably under his stare, conscious of my damp and disheveled appearance.
He come closer to me his tone was cold and rough as he repeated Sherlin's question, "Are you going to be like that all day?"
I tried to sound nonchalant as I replied,
"Yeah, maybe... but I'll dry up eventually." I toss with my damp hair, attempting to look casual but feeling increasingly uncomfortable under his intense gaze.
He stood there in silence for a moment, but then he casually handed me his black leather jacket.
I was taken aback, and I could see that everyone around us was equally surprised. Sherlin's mouth hung open in disbelief, and I could hear gasps and whispers from other students who were watching us.
"No, it's okay. I'm fine, really..." My voice trail off as I watched his expression, which seemed to harden as I refused his gesture.
His tone was firm, and it almost sounded like a command. "Take it,"
he said, holding out the jacket towards me. I hesitated for a moment, feeling confusion
I carefully took the jacket from him, feeling the supple leather in my hands.
I wrapped the jacket around my shoulders, the heavy fabric feeling oddly comforting against my cold skin.
