"Chains of Blood, Wings of Freedom"

The path through the dense forests leading to the Hunter Exam was long and arduous. Tall trees loomed overhead, their shadows casting eerie shapes on the dirt trail. Y/n Zoldyck walked ahead of the group, her eyes scanning the horizon with a calm intensity. Behind her, Killua, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio followed, though Killua's eyes rarely left his sister's back.

"She's really going through with this, huh?" Killua thought to himself, both admiration and worry swirling in his chest. His sister, Y/n, had always been a source of strength for him, a figure he looked up to. But she was also the one who carried the Zoldyck family's expectations like a weight around her neck. Her strength was undeniable, but so was her illness, which was why their family had kept her close for so long.

But now, here she was, standing on the cusp of the Hunter Exam, determined to make her own path.

"You alright, Killua?" Gon's voice broke through his thoughts, cheerful and optimistic as always.

Killua blinked, snapping out of his daze. "Yeah, just thinking."

Ahead, Y/n glanced over her shoulder at the group. Her pale skin seemed to shimmer slightly under the filtered sunlight, and her silver hair-so similar to Killua's-fell in soft waves down her back. Despite the illness that sometimes left her weak, she moved with grace and power, like a panther waiting to strike.

"We're almost there," Y/n called back, her voice soft but authoritative. She was used to being the leader, the one others followed.

As the group approached the Hunter Exam's entrance, a grand, ominous tower looming before them, Leorio wiped the sweat from his brow and muttered, "How are you guys not tired? We've been walking forever."

Kurapika shot him a look. "This is just the beginning, Leorio. You should conserve your energy."

Y/n gave a small smile. "Kurapika's right. The Exam hasn't even started, and it's going to be far more intense than this."

Leorio groaned in response, but Gon was buzzing with excitement. "I can't wait! I wonder what kind of challenges they'll throw at us!"

As they entered the tower, Y/n's sharp senses kicked in, her Nen subtly flaring as she scanned the room filled with candidates. Assassins, warriors, fighters-people from all walks of life stood ready, each one eyeing the competition with suspicion or confidence. Y/n could feel the tension, but she wasn't worried. Her family had trained her to handle far worse.

She took a slow, calming breath. The Zoldycks were feared in the underworld, and she, though plagued by an illness that sometimes weakened her body, was still one of their strongest. Killua had always admired her resilience, the way she fought through pain with quiet strength. He had followed her lead many times as children, watching her battle through her own limits.

As they walked further in, Y/n spotted a familiar face in the crowd. Illumi. Of course, he was here. His dark, piercing eyes met hers for a moment, and a silent understanding passed between them.

"You shouldn't be here, Y/n," Illumi's gaze seemed to say, cold and unreadable as always.

But she was done letting her family control her life.

Phase 1: The Test Begins

The first phase of the Hunter Exam began with a seemingly endless run through a dark, underground tunnel. The air was thick with tension as candidates ran after the mysterious examiner, who led them deeper and deeper into the unknown. Y/n kept a steady pace at the front, alongside Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. She wasn't winded, though she felt the familiar tightness in her chest that signaled her illness might flare up.
