Burn Together
The night was dark, as it usually was in the underbelly of society. The flickering lights of the alley barely illuminated the chaos unfolding. Dabi was used to this life-drifting through the world with his own agenda, a plan of revenge burning deep in his soul. He didn't care about others, and he sure as hell didn't bother helping strangers. But this time... something was different.
His eyes caught sight of her-a woman fighting off five thugs at once. Slave traders, if the way they carried themselves wasn't indication enough. She fought fiercely, her hands glowing with energy as she struck them down. Her quirk-something to do with manipulating her hands into powerful conduits-allowed her to take down her enemies with precision and strength. But still, she was outnumbered, and they were closing in.
He didn't know why he stepped in. Maybe it was because she was clearly out for justice, or maybe it was because her confidence and fiery determination piqued his interest. Before he could think twice, his blue flames erupted, consuming the thugs in seconds.
She spun around, clearly startled but not afraid. Her eyes, full of fire and defiance, met his. "I didn't need your help."
Dabi smirked, wiping the blood off his hands. "Sure didn't look like it. You can thank me later, princess."
She scoffed, crossing her arms, the glow around her hands fading. "I had it under control. I don't owe you anything."
Dabi chuckled. "Tough talk, but I like that."
That night, they walked off in different directions, but fate wasn't done with them.

As the weeks passed, they crossed paths again-and again. Whether it was coincidence or something more, Dabi found himself intrigued. She was proud, confident, and fought for something she believed in. Slave traders, corrupt heroes, and criminals who exploited others-it was all the same to her. And Dabi? He was in it for revenge, his own burning hatred fueling his every move.
They didn't start out as partners. In fact, they bickered more than they worked together. She was a tsundere, always acting like she didn't need him, even though they kept ending up in the same fights. But soon enough, they became a duo-two powerful villains who fought together for different reasons but with the same intensity.
"You really hate slave traders, don't you?" Dabi remarked one night as they leaned against a rooftop ledge, the city lights stretching beneath them.
Her gaze was distant. "I hate people who use others. Kids especially. Quirk discrimination. The abuse... I've seen too much of it." Her voice hardened. "Someone has to fight for them."
Dabi studied her. He rarely cared about anyone's backstory, but with her, it was different. "And you think you're that someone?"
"I know I am."
He didn't argue. For the first time in his life, he felt something shift. She was strong-physically, mentally-but there was a softness underneath her hard exterior. A fire that burned bright like his own, but it wasn't just for revenge. It was for something more. And maybe that was what drew him in.
---
One night, after a particularly brutal fight, the two found themselves alone. She was sitting on the edge of a rooftop, her fingers tracing the air as if lost in thought. Dabi approached her, quieter than usual.
