"Candy-Coated Memories"

---

Before Hisoka became the man feared for his twisted strength and psychotic hunger for battle, he was nothing more than an orphan-a boy who despised the world for the cruelty it had shown him. Life had only given him pain.

Until he met her.

---

She had been like no one else in the world. Lyria, with her soft smile and irrepressible warmth, was a wandering soul who had taken Hisoka in when no one else would. Her hair always smelled like wildflowers, and she had a laugh that could brighten the dullest of days.

She wasn't like him-cynical and broken. She was everything opposite. Where Hisoka found life brutal and unfair, Lyria found beauty, even in the ugliest corners. She had a strange fascination with wild animals, always telling him stories about their instincts, their beauty, and how they were so much more compassionate than most people. Her kindness was effortless, as natural as breathing. She had a way of talking too much, bubbling with endless thoughts, as if she were afraid of silence.

There was one thing she often talked about in particular-bubblegum.

Hisoka never understood it. "Why are you so obsessed with bubblegum? It's just candy," he'd ask her, teasing the way her eyes would light up whenever she found a new flavor.

"It's not just candy!" she would say, her voice indignant. "Bubblegum can be anything! Sweet, sour, fruity, minty-how can you even know what the real taste is supposed to be?" She would pop a piece in her mouth and smile, as if savoring some profound mystery.

He'd laugh at her, finding it ridiculous, but also strangely endearing. "You're too kind, you know," he'd mock, his tone playful yet tinged with something darker. "One day, that soft heart of yours will get you hurt."

Lyria would laugh, her eyes twinkling. "Maybe. But someone's got to balance out the grumpy people like you."

---

Lyria had a secret. One day, beneath the wide sky in a peaceful meadow, she revealed to him the existence of Nen. She hadn't meant to, but Hisoka had a sharp eye and a sharper mind.

He had seen her use it once-just a flicker, something that seemed to shimmer around her. "What was that?" he asked, his voice uncharacteristically serious. Lyria hesitated before explaining, sharing with him the existence of Nen and its power.

She told him stories-wild, rambling tales about the world beyond their little corner, about hunters and adventures. Lyria had once trained with a Nen user, she admitted, but she had chosen not to pursue it. She preferred the quiet life, the simple joy of helping others.

But Hisoka wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted more. Power, control-things he couldn't understand but felt deep inside. Lyria's kindness made him feel small in comparison, like he wasn't meant for something so soft and pure. She represented everything he wasn't, and yet he stayed with her, as if trying to understand why someone like her existed at all.

---

The day it all ended started like any other. Lyria was humming in their small cabin, her hands busy making tea, while Hisoka lounged nearby, pretending not to listen as she rattled on about some animal she'd seen in the forest.
