Dormitory Common Room – Class 1-A
---
It was a normal evening in the Class 1-A dorms. The students had gathered in the common room, taking a much-needed break after a long day of training and classes. Deku was chatting with Iida about strategy, while Mina and Kirishima were flipping through a magazine about hero fashion. Bakugou, of course, was on the couch grumbling at the noise as he watched TV.
Meanwhile, Denki Kaminari sat at the far end of the room, leaning back casually on the couch, scrolling through his phone with a goofy grin on his face.
"What's with the weird smile, Kaminari?" Jirou asked, leaning against the arm of the couch. Her eyebrow was raised in suspicion, noticing how unusually quiet Denki had been.
Denki quickly straightened up, locking his phone screen and shoving it into his pocket. "Uh—nothing! Just, uh, you know... memes! Super funny ones," he replied, though his voice cracked a little.
Mina perked up at his awkward behavior, her pink eyes narrowing mischievously. "Oooh, are you hiding something?" she teased, hopping up and approaching him with a knowing grin. "You’re acting really suspicious."
"Definitely," Sero chimed in from the other side of the room, now paying attention to the scene. "You've been acting weird lately, Kaminari."
Kirishima leaned forward, grinning. "C'mon, bro, spill it! What’s going on?"
Denki rubbed the back of his neck nervously, looking around at the increasingly curious stares. “W-What? I’m not hiding anything!”
At that moment, Mina darted forward and, with a swift motion, snatched Denki's phone from his hand before he could react.
“Wha—HEY! Give that back!” Denki panicked, lunging after her, but Mina was already darting around the couch with the phone in hand.
Jirou chuckled as she watched Denki’s desperate attempts to catch her. “Looks like we found something interesting.”
As Mina pulled the phone away from him, she unlocked it easily, having seen Denki’s password too many times before. When she saw the screen, her eyes widened.
"OH. MY. GOD."
The entire room turned toward her.
Iida adjusted his glasses, looking concerned. “Ashido, what did you find? You mustn't invade others' privacy!”
But Mina ignored him, holding up the phone screen to show the rest of the class. It was an adorable photo of Denki with a girl none of them recognized. She was shyly leaning against him, with a soft smile on her face, her hand gently resting on his. They looked incredibly close—too close to just be friends.
“No way... Kaminari, do you have a girlfriend?!” Mina squealed, bouncing up and down with excitement.
The room erupted into a chorus of gasps, and even Bakugou glanced over, grumbling under his breath, “You’ve gotta be kidding me.”
Denki slumped down on the couch, covering his face with his hands. “I-I can explain...”
Deku, ever the curious one, stepped closer with a smile. “Kaminari, is this true? You’ve been dating someone?”
All eyes were on him now. Denki, knowing he couldn’t escape the situation, let out a heavy sigh before sitting up straight.
“Fine, fine! I’ll tell you guys everything,” he said, clearly embarrassed but also smiling as he glanced at the picture on his phone. “Her name’s Y/N, and, yeah... she’s my girlfriend.”
The class was stunned for a second before a barrage of questions hit him all at once.
"How long have you been dating?!"
"How did you meet her?!"
"Why didn’t you tell us?!"
Denki scratched the back of his head, laughing awkwardly. “We’ve been together for a while... like, since middle school.”
That statement only caused more shock.
“Middle school?!” Sero exclaimed. “You’ve been hiding this that long?”
“Well, yeah...” Denki started, “It’s not like I didn’t want to tell you guys, but Y/N’s... shy. She’s not in hero training—she goes to a normal school. She didn’t want a lot of attention, so I respected that. I didn’t want to freak her out by telling the whole class, you know?”
Mina, always the gossip, sat down next to Denki, practically vibrating with excitement. “Okay, okay, but tell us how you two even met! This is so cute!”
A fond smile tugged at Denki’s lips as he remembered. “We actually met at a school festival... It was right after that big collaboration event between my old middle school and hers. There were a ton of activities, and our schools were both hosting booths. She was running one of the stands—she’s not really outgoing, but she was doing it for her class.”
Denki’s eyes softened as he continued. “I went over to buy something from the booth she was helping with, and when I saw her, I don’t know... she just seemed really sweet. Like, she was super shy, but I could tell she cared about helping everyone. She had this kind smile, even though she was a little nervous.”
His grin widened at the memory. “I decided to stick around and talk to her, make her laugh a little. I think I said something dumb like, ‘Bet I can guess your quirk,’ and she just blushed and said, ‘I don’t have one, actually...’ I felt like an idiot, but she just giggled.”
The girls of Class 1-A, especially Ochaco and Mina, were practically melting at how sweet the story was.
“I ended up helping her at the booth for the rest of the day,” Denki continued, “and afterward, we got some snacks together. We found this cute little café near the festival grounds, and we just... talked for hours. It was so easy with her, you know? Like, I could be myself, and she didn’t mind when I got all... well, me.”
Denki’s expression softened even more, his voice quieter now. “We exchanged numbers that day, and we’ve been together ever since. She’s the most caring person I’ve ever met. She always checks up on me, even when I’m busy with hero stuff. She’s not flashy or loud, but... she’s everything to me.”
The room fell silent for a moment, the class clearly touched by Denki’s story.
Jirou, who usually teased him relentlessly, gave a small, approving nod. “I didn’t know you had it in you, Kaminari. That’s actually really sweet.”
“Yeah,” Kirishima agreed, slapping Denki on the back with a big grin. “That’s super manly, dude!”
Denki laughed, feeling a bit more at ease now that the initial shock had passed. “I just... didn’t want to freak her out by bringing her into the hero world too much. Her family’s kind of a big deal, though.”
“Oh?” Deku perked up. “What’s her last name?”
Denki hesitated for a second before responding. “It’s, uh... Y/N Yagami.”
The room collectively gasped again.
“Wait, like the Yagami family?!” Sero exclaimed, his eyes wide. “They’re a legendary hero family! Her parents are super famous pros!”
“Yep,” Denki said with a sheepish grin. “Her parents are total badasses, but she’s just... normal. She’s not interested in becoming a hero, and they’re totally cool with it. But yeah... I guess that’s why I kept it on the down-low.”
Mina practically exploded with excitement. “This is so romantic!! Kaminari, you’ve been dating a sweet, shy girl from a famous hero family, and you kept it secret this whole time?!”
Denki shrugged, his goofy smile returning. “What can I say? She’s worth it.”
The class collectively "aww’d" at his confession, and for once, Denki didn’t mind the attention.
