Trigger warning: implications of non consensual acts.
The night was crying along with the girl, as the alluring moon hid behind the darkness, its pale light fading, much like her will to live. She cried, and cried, spilled her heart out, hidden in an empty alley on a busy street.
Cold and empty. That's what she felt.
While she was beyond her years, intelligent, someone would describe, she was frivolous and impulsive. The kind of, act before you think, person but that never failed her. Was it fortune, intuition or the primal fear that kept her alive; she didn't knew nor cared as long as she survived another night.
Even though it was raining, the streets were buzzing with life, people were walking carefree, enjoying their evening. She felt the chilling breeze on her skin, as the rain washed away the blood from her face and hands, but unfortunately the stain of that traumatic experience remained there, deep engraved in her psyche.
She couldn't take it anymore and nobody would ever care if she lived or died. It didn't matter. Not to her and she supposed not to none anymore. After all, she was all alone. No friends, no family, nothing. Mother changed radically, now ignoring her own child for a stranger she had met not long ago.
Two drunken men passed by her and she did her best not to make a sound to alert them of her presence. Hiding further in her dark corner, she felt her anxiety spiking.
Hadn't she had enough already?
"Hey look! It's our lucky day!" The taller one talked slurring his words. "Why?" The other asked.
"A woman! Look, look she's crying!" He laughed, the sound of it so impudent. The girl's blood froze as she saw the silhouettes approaching, she tried to stand up, to run as far as she could, away from them and all her other problems, but succeeded in neither.
"Grab her!" He had said. "Close her mouth, and you, don't you dare scream or I'll cut ya throat!"
While the other bent down, he never managed to reach her, as another voice was heard, as if her guardian angel came from heavens to safe her once again.
"Get away freaks!"
A feminine voice had said. She didn't comprehend how then the two men ended up on the ground, seconds later, all bruised and bloody. She had asked if the girl was okay, and while she didn't answer with words, only a whimper and a couple of tears, the woman understood. Holding her hand and guiding her, she gave a hug, a warm one, accepting.
"Come on. You'll freeze to death." The first words to her were these. "What's your name?" The girl asked then to her patron.
"Agape."
