Elena was sitting next to the lake.

The exact same lake from the day she met Paul Lahote. She could feel eyes on her but couldn't see where they were coming from. Elena looked around some more before standing up. The sun was shining through the trees and the air was slightly warmer than usual.

"Is anyone there?" Elena called out. She could feel someone hiding in the shadows.

Elena heard the sound of rustling and she turned around to find a giant wolf staring at her. Elena immediately recognized who it was and cried out for him. "Embry!" She went to move in his direction but he growled in response.

"Em? It's me. Elena." She tried to reason with him but he wasn't listening. Maybe this wasn't Embry at all. He would've recognized her. Maybe it was just some random giant wolf species and not her best friend who could shapeshift.

Embry hadn't spoken to Elena since Jacob had told him about her reconciling her relationship with Jasper who suddenly reappeared out of thin air.

"Embry I know you're probably not happy with my decision but I know what I want." Elena frowned. She needed him to listen and understand her. "Just please let me explain." She took another step sending him into a defensive stance.

"Embry I'm serious." She yelled out to him. "Just change back and let me talk to you face to face."

Embry continued growling before he started to charge at her. "Embry? Embry!" She screamed at the top of her lungs before turning around and trying to run.

"Elena!" The girl was pulled out of her nightmare by Jasper.

Elena gasped for air. She sat up in her bed and pushed away from him. Jasper could feel the fear radiating off of her but he couldn't help her and it hurt. She tried to catch her breath and after a few minutes she had calmed down.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. Elena raised her hand and wiped away the sweat that covered her forehead.

"What happened?" Jasper had been staying with her at night for weeks just watching her sleep. Sometimes she had a happy dream, sometimes she had none at all. But some nights she would thrash around in her bed and when the nightmares were really bad, she'd scream.

"Nothing." He knew she was lying but she would always eventually tell him the dreams when she calmed down.

"Come here." He opened his arms for her. Elena scrunched her nose up in disgust. "What is it?" He asked.

"I'm covered in sweat. I will not hug you." She scoffed.

"Do you think I care about sweat? I was in the Army." He chuckled.

"That's great for you Jas. But I am still a woman and I stink thank you very much." Elena threw the covers off of herself before looking at the clock in her room. 5:34. Her alarm would go off in an hour for her to get up for school.

"I can assure you my love, you smell absolutely appetizing." Jasper smirked.

"Not the words I would've used but thanks?" Elena laughed in confusion. "I am going to shower first then we can talk about extending your describing vocabulary." She stood up and pecked him on the lips before grabbing a new change of clothes and rushing to her bathroom.

The school day had been passing by rather quickly. Edward, Bella, and Elena ended up joining the twin's friends at their lunch table. Rosalie and Emmett had technically graduated the year previous. Alice and Jasper had yet to be seen since the bell had rang for lunch time.

"Just in time." Mike acknowledged the group of three. "All right, check it out. Alright, let's see, we got, my fellow students, right? Good. Cute. Right?" He looked at his friends for reassurance. "We are the future. Anything is possible if you just believe."

"Nice." Jessica scoffed with annoyance.

"Perfect. And you've got yourself a speech." Mike tossed the journal in front of him over to Jessica. She had been pronounced Valedictorian and was required to write a speech to give at their graduation.

"No, this'll be my speech when I want everyone to throw diplomas at my head." Jessica quickly scrapped the paper and crumbled it up into a ball before tossing it at Mike's head. "So thank you."

Elena laughed as she took a bite of her apple.

"You gotta embrace the cliches Jessica." Mike stood his ground.

"They are the bread and butter of all valedictorians." Eric chimed in.

"That is why you are not Valedictorian." Angela answered causing Elena to giggle.

"Jess doesn't need Cliches." Bella stepped in the conversation.

"Yes. Her speech that she will write on her own is going to be absolutely epic." Elena pointed to Jessica who gave a smile back.

"Epic? It'll change lives."

"I've decided to throw a party." Alice pipped in with a bright smile. She and Jasper had finally arrived.

Jasper had occupied the open seat next to Elena. "After all, how many times are we gonna graduate high school." The boy smirked jokingly. Elena rolled her eyes, she herself had seen the many diplomas the family had congregated. It was probably the thing she was least looking forward to after becoming a vampire.

"A party? At your place?" Angela looked between the Cullens.

"I've never seen your house." Jessica was shocked. Of course after Bella and Elena had arrived there had been more changes with the Cullens than she had thought.

"No one's ever seen their house." Eric leaned over to Jessica's side.

"Another party Alice?" Edward grumbled out. The memories of the last one were still fresh in everyone's mind.

"It'll be fun." Alice sternly spoke looking to her brother.

"Yeah. That's what you said last time." Bella rolled her eyes. Elena took another bite of her apple not wanting to get in between the three. Alice sighed and then her vision switched from the world around her to the future ahead. Her eyes zoned out and she sat back in her chair. To anyone else it would've looked as if she had been defeated by her friend's words but the two couples knew what this meant.

"Hey Angela do you need some help with those?" Elena quickly tried to get everyone's attention off of the vampire and turn to the problems at hand. Jasper and Alice looked to each other and Edward turned to Bella having already seen the vision playing out in Alice's head.

Jasper turned to Elena and kissed her on her temple to reassure her that nothing was wrong but Elena knew. Alice had seen something and it wasn't good by the looks of their faces.
