"Aren't you girls gonna miss this?"

Elena and Bella were sunbathing with their mom. Bella on one side of Renee and Elena on the other. "Can you just feel the vitamin D soaking up in your pores?"

"Yeah. I am gonna miss this." Bella spoke the thoughts of both girls.

"You know colleges in Florida are a lot sunnier." Renee fixed her hat and brought her drink back up to her lips. She raised her eyebrows at Bella hinting that maybe they should stay there for college instead of their original plans. "I'm just saying if you both go to the university of Alaska. I'm never gonna see you."

Bella covered her eyes with her sunglasses to hide the tears forming in her eyes from her mother. The realization coming to her that she may never see her mother again after being turned broke her heart.

"They have a really great science program mom." Elena shifted the attention from her older sister to herself.

"You mean Cullen program?" Renee threw out there looking at her youngest daughter who blushed.

The men in question were sitting just inside the house in the kitchen listening to the conversation and the twins knew it.

"The way they watch you. It's like they're both willing to leap in front of you and take a bullet or something." She looked at her daughters skeptically.

"Is that a bad thing?" Bella asked. Elena groaned softly. Probably not the best question to have asked but of course Bella did.

"It's an intense thing. You're both different when they're around. You move, they move. Like magnets." Renee looked between both of her daughters. Elena just took another drink of her iced tea before licking her lips clean.

"I don't know. We're just-" Elena tried to find a way to describe the way they worked but she couldn't.

"In love. I get it. I just want to make sure the two of you are making the right choices, for you." She leaned over and held Elena's hand. "You know, cause you're the ones who are gonna have to live with them." Elena nodded and squeezed her mother's hand.

Renee sat up in her chair. "All right. Enough with the heavy." She stood up and walked into the house to grab two big boxes that were wrapped up in bows.

"Congraduation." Renee laughed as she handed the girls their gifts. Bella's was a purple box with a lilac ribbon while Elena's was a cobalt color with a sky blue ribbon.

"We didn't want you to spend any money mom." Elena moved over to sit next to Bella so they could open their gifts together.

"I didn't. Come on." Renee took her place back on her chair as she faced her girls with a smile. The girls laughed before taking off the ribbon of their gifts and opening the boxes.

"Oh my god." Elena laughed as she realized what their mother had made them.

"Are these all of our old trip t-shirts?" Bella laughed looking up at her mom.

"M-hmm. I saved them all. I thought they'd make a good quilt, keep you both warm while you're in Alaska." Renee reached over and helped them both bring them out of their box. The three girls took a trip down memory lane of each shirt and the memories that came with it.

"This is amazing." The twins spoke in unison.

"I'm glad you like it girls. I just figured you know when you get older, have kids, we can add to it." Elena and Bella froze for a split second. Elena hadn't thought about the fact that she wouldn't be able to have kids to bring home to her mother and it devastated her.

Elena knew she wanted kids but she would just have to give that dream up if she wanted to be a vampire. Vampires couldn't have kids and she needed to come to terms with that.  "Maybe go visit the world's largest ketchup bottle or something."

"Thank you." The twins pulled their mother in to a bone crushing hug, catching Renee off guard.

Jasper from the inside could feel the sorrow radiating off of the twins who knew their fate. Jasper wanted more than anything to take that away from Elena but he couldn't and that troubled him.

"It'll be okay Jasper." Edward reached out and patted his brother's shoulder to comfort him. He read Jasper's thoughts. The boy figured Elena was upset about not being able to have kids and that made him sad. Jasper just nodded but cleared his head and continued to listen to the family outside.

"Just thought you both should have a little piece of me up there in Alaska." Renee was the first one to try and change their minds when they told her where they would be going for college. But when the girls had their mind set on something, nothing was going to change it.

"I miss you." Bella whispered in her mother's ear. Bella was always closer to her mother while Elena was closer to their father. But the girls loved them both unconditionally.

"Oh, honey I miss you too. The both of you." Renee wrapped her hands around her daughter's heads and held them even closer. Together the three of them had sat there for a few more moments before pulling apart.

"I don't know about the two of you but suddenly I'm hungry." Elena pulled away from her family.

"That's my cue. I'll start on lunch." Renee wiped her teary eyes before patting her youngest on her head. "I'll be back." Renee left the two younger girls to admire their gifts a little longer.

"This is going to be much harder than I thought it would be." Elena whispered to her sister. She knew with their gifts the vamps would be able to hear her still but she just didn't want her mother to overhear.

"I know. But it's our choice. We've made it already." Bella wiped under her eyes where a few tears had escaped.

"I know Bells. I know." Elena sighed. She would wait for as long as possible before she was changed. She wouldn't be able to see Renee or Charlie for who knows how long. And Jacob and Billy, how would they react? Would they hate her?

Would Embry? Elena had yet to tell Jasper about Embry or any of the wolf pack but he knew that's who she had made friends with. He was going to have to be okay with that, Elena was his forever and nothing was going to change her mind.
