"Reporting live."
"It's getting worse." Carlisle had shut off the tv as Elena, Bella and Edward had made their way into the room. "We're going to have to do something."
"It takes more than one of our kind to cause the kind of damage they're reporting." Jasper kept his eyes on the tv screen until Elena sat next to him. "Quite a few more. And they're undisciplined, conspicuous." He reached for Elena's hand while looking to Edward.
"It's newborns." He concluded.
"Like new vampires?" Elena looked between Edward and Jasper waiting for an answer.
"In the first few months after the change," Edward had started explaining before Jasper chimed in.
"That's when we're at our most uncontrollable. Vicious. Insane with thirst." Jasper started thinking back to the early days of his vampire life where he did nothing but train and kill newborns to help build an army.
"Something to look forward to." Emmett smirked.
"Gee thanks Emmett." Elena rolled her eyes. She knew he meant it as a joke but Elena could sense how dangerous this was going to be.
"No one's trained these newborns, but this isn't random." Elena gripped Jasper's hand tighter. She needed him to know that she was there and she wasn't going to let anything happen to anyone.
"So someone's creating an army?" She asked the room.
"Precisely." Carlisle looked like he didn't want to answer but he figured they should all be aware of the situation at hand.
"Well now we're definitely going to Seattle." Emmett hopped down from his spot on the top of the couch and stood at full height.
"An army of vampires?" Bella couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"And they've been created to fight someone." Jasper added.
"We're the only clan even close to Seattle." Edward grimaced thinking of all the clans he knew of.
"Regardless of why they were made if we don't put a stop to them the Volturi will." Carlisle looked to his eldest son. "I'm surprised they let it go on this long."
"What if they're behind it?" Elena whispered. She had been thinking out loud and didn't realize it until Edward spoke again.
"In Italy, I read Aro's mind. He wants Alice and I to join him. But he knows we'll never choose him as long as our family is still alive." Edward's memories of that day came flooding back.
Elena looked to Bella who seemed haunted. Would the Volturi go through these lengths to get Alice and Edward? Would he kill the entire Cullen Clan and maybe even the twins to get them to join? Bella looked to Elena who had the same look on her face. Maybe they really did have a reason to be scared.
"An army could solve that for him." Jasper's jaw tightened at the thought of them going to war just so Aro could have Edward and Alice. He knew Elena would be caught in the crossfire as well and he was not going to stand for it. She tightened her grip on him and he was brought back to the moment. Elena was next to him, alive and breathing. He couldn't ask for anything more.

"Hey." Elena and Bella had just returned home to see Charlie sitting at the table with a missing person's flyer in front of him.
"Have you eaten yet?" Elena asked sitting across from her father. He was obviously in a trance trying to solve the case and find the missing boy.
"No. I haven't." He responded looking at his daughter. He took a deep breath and let it back out. "This kid Riley Biers, disappeared over a year ago." Elena looked over at the paper in front of him. He was a handsome boy. Probably had his whole life ahead of him. "His poor parents have been papering Seattle with these ever since."
"You think they should just give up?" Bella asked. Elena glared at her.
"Well, I wouldn't, if it were you." He looked up to his daughter standing next to him before shifting his gaze to Elena, "Either of you." He wrapped an arm around Bella holding her close and reached over to hold Elena's hand. "Not ever."
Elena felt her heart break. She couldn't imagine Charlie never seeing his daughters again. Elena knew this man would go to the ends of the earth and back again if it meant his daughters were safe. But if they were to become vampires, they'd have to leave this life behind them.
Now Elena laid in her bed as she contemplated her future.
"What are you thinking about?" Jasper asked from his seat at the edge of her bed.
"Charlie. Mom." She sighed and turned to lay on her side. "I knew it wasn't going to be easy to leave my dad or Mom. But I also wasn't thinking about how hard it was going to be either." Jasper wished more than anything in that moment that he could take away her pain, but he couldn't.
"Its better to leave than to watch them die don't you think?" Elena rolled her eyes.
"You're really not helping here you know." Jasper lifted the corner of his mouth slightly. Sadness was replaced with annoyance and it made him feel better.
"I apologize." Jasper laid next to her and faced her. She sighed.
"I just, I'm going to miss them." Elena laid on her back and stared up at the ceiling. She didn't feel like being hypnotized by the golden pools that he called eyes. She would do anything he asked of her and she knew it. If he had asked her to run away and leave everyone and everything behind, she would probably do it.
"You still have time." He knew she wanted to wait for as long as possible before being changed. But she knew in her heart she wouldn't have as long as they believed. She would have to stay young if they were going to be together. She didn't know if in a few years from now she would be able to pass as a teenager anymore. Jasper would make it work though, he knew he would do anything if it meant the couple could stay together as long as possible.
"We say that but I don't know how much time we really have. My family is everything to me. As are you and the rest of the Cullens. I just, didn't expect to be overwhelmed by this." Elena sniffled. Everything was hitting her at once and she didn't like it at all. Jasper was also feeling her emotions but he tried to fight it as much as possible.
"I'm sorry Jas." Elena finally came to the realization of what her emotions were doing to him.
"You're worried about me?" He laughed. "I'll be fine Elena. You are allowed to feel your emotions. I'm just here as support." Elena scooted over and laid her head on him.
"I love you Jasper." She whispered knowing he could hear her.
"I love you." He kissed the top of her head and played with her hair until she fell into a peaceful dreamless sleep.
