Four

"Did you enjoy the trip?"

Jasper had driven Elena to school while Bella rode with Edward. He parked the vehicle and looked over to his mate who had emotions running through her.

"Yeah. I loved it. I've missed her. I just didn't realize how much until we had to say goodbye." Elena slumped back in her seat.

She had curled the ends of her hair that morning and threw it back into a ponytail. She had decided to wear blue jeans with black converse and a white long sleeve with a red flannel on top.

"We could always go back if you'd like." Jasper suggested.

"Honestly. I would like that. But I need to be able to distance myself before I change." Elena grabbed the end of her flannel and tugged on it.

"Is this you changing your mind?" Jasper asked. He had been looking around. He could sense some anger coming off of two people but couldn't pinpoint exactly who yet.

"Never. I know what I want. It's to be with you. For the rest of our lives." Elena reached over and held his hand. She wasn't lying. She made up her mind that she was going to be with Jasper forever and she meant it. "Nothing will ever change my mind Jas. I mean it."

Jasper's face changed into a look of disgust. "What is it?" Elena asked.

"Would you do me a favor and stay here?" Jasper suggested as he began to open his car door and stepped out.

"Definitely not." Elena quickly let herself out of the car before meeting up with Jasper who rolled his eyes. He now knew who was there when he heard his brother whisper under his breath something along the lines of rogue dogs.

Elena could see Bella and Edward ahead of them but when she looked past them she could see two men in tight fitting black t-shirts and blue jeans standing next to some motorcycles.

"I can't believe this." Elena mumbled as she looked upon Embry Call and Jacob Black. Both boys had turned around at the sound of the girls approaching. Jacob started walking to meet them halfway with Embry trailing closely behind.

"Hey." Bella called out to them as they stopped.

"Charlie said you left town." Jacob stated looking between both girls. Edward and Jasper both scoffed with a laugh.

"Yeah. To visit our mom. Why?" Elena spoke up for the pair.

"They're checking to see if you're still human." Edward laughed from behind the twins. Jasper on the other hand stayed right next to Elena and stared down the boy whose eyes wouldn't leave her.

"Look, we're here to warn you." Embry spoke up gaining the attention of the girl he loves.

"If your kind come on our lands again." Jacob took a threatening step towards Edward.

"Wait what?" Bella and Elena looked between their best friend and their boyfriends.

"You didn't tell them?" Jacob asked looking up to Edward.

"Just leave it alone Jacob." Edward threatened.

"Tell us what?" Bella turned back to Jacob.

"Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding." Edward gave the bare minimum of explanations. Elena rolled her eyes.

"It's nothing to worry about." Jasper kept his arm around Elena who looked back up at him asking if it was true. Paul was one of her friends and Emmett was huge. It could have ended badly with that match up.

"Listen to you." Embry gave a fake smile to Jasper who had spoken before him.

"Did you lie to get them out of town too?" Jacob growled.

"You should leave. Now." Edward stood toe to toe with Jacob. Elena tried to take a step forward but was held back by Jasper. Embry let out a low growl and stepped a half step forward to defend his friend.

"They have a right to know." Embry stepped in. "The redhead is after them." He glared right at Edward trying to ignore Elena's stare on him.

"Victoria?" The girls asked. Elena looked up at Jasper. If Victoria was in the area then things could go South really quickly.

"Alice's vision." Bella realized why Edward convinced her to go visit their mother now.

Elena immediately went back to the day in the cafeteria where Alice had zoned out due to a vision. Elena had forgotten all about the vision due to her visiting her mother and enjoying it.

"I was trying to protect you." Edward tried to cover for himself.

"By lying to me." Bella's voice carried hurt in it. The love of her life had lied to her. Edward looked away not knowing what to say to her.

"You lied?" Elena turned to Jasper and moved away from his touch.

"Elena I-" Jasper tried to explain but was cut off.

"Okay we're going to have a long talk about lying to someone you love." Elena glared at him.

"Why haven't you called me back?" Elena's attention went to Bella who was trying to turn the tables on Jacob.

"I had nothing to say." Jacob looked down to Bella before turning to look at Elena. "To either of you." Elena shook her head and huffed.

"And you?" She raised her voice to Embry who just shook his head and started walking away.

"Don't you dare walk away from me again Call." Jasper grabbed Elena's arm to keep her from going to the werewolf. "Jasper." She turned to the vampire. He wasn't looking at her though, he kept his eyes on the wolf who turned back.

"I don't think you should be hanging out with his kind." Jasper said his eyes never leaving Embry's.

"Do you trust me?" Elena asked looking up into his gold eyes.

"You know I do darling." Jasper had finally looked down at her and gave a sad smile. He knew where this was going and if he wanted her to not be angry then he would have to trust in her decisions.

"Then let me go with him. I need to talk to him and when I get back I will explain everything that happened while you left." Jasper winced. He didn't like being reminded that he abandoned her but it was inevitable.

Jasper kissed the top of her head but nodded letting her go. "And just for your information, I don't need your approval for anything Jasper Hale." She pointed to him before making her way over to Embry who started to get on his bike.

"We need to talk." She said as she stood in front of him.

"I don't think so." Embry couldn't look her in the eye. After all the time they spent together she rushed back into her relationship with Jasper and he wasn't happy. A small part of him had hoped she had been falling in love with him instead.

"Well I don't care what you say. I'm going with you." Elena pulled the helmet from his grasp and hopped over to sit behind him. "Or you can forcibly remove me. Your choice." Elena fasted the helmet on her head and wrapped her arms around Embry. Elena could feel him chuckle and knew he did it to piss off Jasper. It was working.
