No matter how hard you try, the wound never truly heals—it just becomes a part of you, a shadow that never fades. Until the right person walks into your life, bringing light to erase the darkness within. For me, Avni was that light.
She became my reason for everything. If I had to fight the world to keep her safe, I wouldn’t hesitate even a bit. Since the moment I fell in love with her, I knew I would go against every consequence to protect her, no matter the cost.
That's why, ever since the day I received that envelope filled with threats, I haven’t taken a single chance with her safety. I’ve increased security for everyone in my family, but especially for her. I know whoever sent those threats is desperate enough to harm me in any way possible, and that includes hurting her.
The envelope was frustratingly difficult to trace. No digital footprint, no IP address that could be tracked. It was a dead end, and that only made things worse. I had reviewed every second of CCTV footage, checking every angle, trying to figure out who could have entered my office undetected to place that letter in my cabin. I’ve updated the entire security system, yet somehow, he remains hidden—like a snake in the grass, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
The frustration boiling inside me was enough to drive me insane. I’d been dealing with so much already, and then the news flashing on the TV caught my attention. My blood ran cold as the headline sank in. It couldn’t be. No, not now, not like this.
I rushed to grab my phone, my hands shaking as I tried to call her. She couldn’t find out, not like this. Not alone.
"Avi, did you hear the news?" Smarth barged in, the look of concern on his face was clear.
"I know," I muttered, dialing her number over and over. She wasn’t picking up. "Come on, Aana, pick up the phone," I whispered, tension building as I waited, each ring echoing louder than the last.
Just then, my screen lit up with an incoming call—from one of her Father. My brows knitted as I pick up phone call I had a bad feeling about it . "Please be safe, Aana," I muttered under my breath as I picked up the call, hoping for the best. But as soon as I heard his voice, my worst fears were confirmed.
My face fell, and I clenched my jaw, feeling the rage building.
"What happened?" Smarth demanded, stepping closer as he tried to read my expression.
My heart pounded in my chest the day I feared the most has come to reality.
Smarth looked at me, alarmed. "Ab batayega bhi kya hua?" he asked, a hint of urgency in his voice.
[Would you tell me what the hell happened?]
I took a deep breath, swallowing the bile of fear and rage that had risen in my throat. "Avni... Avni got kidnapped."
