I snuck out of bed and into the My Room. My books were perfectly aligned in the bookshelves, filling the room with that fresh book smell.

I loved the My Room.

I sat down on one of the cushions and summoned a book called Brisingr which was part of the Inheritance Cycle, another good human series.

I curled up on the beanbag chair and started reading.

"Evela?"

I woke up with my arm under my head like a pillow.

My book was on the ground, but thankfully the pages weren't ripped or folded.

My father was standing in the doorway with my mother.

"Sorry," I mumbled as I picked up the book.

"I just wanted to read but I was too tired and fell asleep."

"Why couldn't you fall asleep in your room if you were so tired?" asked my mother.

"I wanted to read and I couldn't sleep in my bed for some reason."

"Is it the headache?"

I shook my head.

I don't know when it had happened but my headache had faded.

Maybe it was the smell of the books.

"Well, manifesting takes a lot of energy. Maybe you wanted to clear your head with some books," spoke my father.

"Maybe," I shrugged.

"Did you call Heda? I could hear her voice from your room," asked my mother.

I winced. "Um, yeah..."

"But you told me not to tell anyone."

"But Heda's my best friend and..."

"Well, that doesn't matter. I told your father and Senira."

My father nodded. "We won't tell anyone if you're not comfortable with it. Right, Adena?"

My mother slowly nodded. "Yes, of course. But your family needs to know. You can talk to Senira later."

"What was her reaction?"

"She was a little bit grumpy after finding out you manifested before her."

"But she's okay with it."

"Yes," answered my father. "Now, we still have to tell Dame Alina so you can start to take ability sessions, but we can do that after midterm break."

"What do you think about this arrangement?" asked my mother.

I thought for a moment before nodding. "It's okay, I guess."

"Good," said my mother, walking over and crouching down. "We want you to be fine with your new ability."

"But neither of you are Beguilers! Won't that be weird?"

"I have had some Beguilers in my family," said my father. "And so are some of your mother's relatives."

I paused. "Okay, then."

"Well, what do you want to do to celebrate your manifestation?" asked my mother.

I shook my head. "Maybe later."

"I need to talk to Senira."
