Jimin's led Taehyung through a maze of twists and turns, his knowledge of the area's hidden nooks and crannies a gift from years of exploration. Taehyung allowed himself to be dragged. Their breaths coming in ragged gasps, pain searing through Taehyung from his wound. They stopped in an abandoned alley, hidden by a pile of discarded crates and a rusted metal gate that looked like it hadn't been opened in decades.
"We're safe for now," Jimin whispered. The phone in Taehyung's pocket buzzed, the screen lighting up. Taehyung quickly answered the call.
"This is why I told you to let me come with you, Taehyung" Yoongi's voice was tinged with anger and worry. Taehyung took a shaky breath before answering. "It's okay, hyung, I'm still alive."
Yoongi was frustrated with the younger. "Who are the attackers?" Taehyung asked. Yoongi's voice quivered as he replied, "They were...Roy's men." Taehyung's grip on the phone tightened, and he felt a wave of cold anger wash over him.
Yoongi could almost hear the gears turning in Taehyung's head, the wheels of strategy spinning into action. "Tae, the wedding is cancelled," Yoongi continued, trying to distract the younger so that he won't do anything in rush & anger. "Mr.Kim is arranging a funeral for you."
Taehyung's knees buckled as soon as he heard it and he crumpled to the ground, the phone slipping from his trembling hand. Jimin caught it before it could shatter on the concrete and hung up the call. He looked at Taehyung, who had tears streaming down his face. "Jiminie, Dad...he-he is arranging for my funeral."
Jimin felt a mix of pain and disbelief boil in his chest. He set the phone aside and wrapped his arms around Taehyung, holding him tightly as the sobs racked his body. "First, they had kicked me out of the house, but now they've kicked me out of their hearts too," Taehyung continued, his voice muffled against Jimin's shoulder. "I must have hurt them so much. I ruined my baby Ara's wedding. What if she hates me?"
Jimin held Taehyung closer, whispering reassurances into his ear. "This isn't your fault. Your sister will definitely understand you." But even as he spoke, he knew that words were insufficient to heal the wounds that had been inflicted. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I ruined your life Taehyung. I'm the root cause of all this."
Taehyung didn't say anything about Jimin's apology, instead, "I'm all alone now," He continued, "I don't have anyone. I've lost everyone." His voice filled with despair.
Jimin's heart clenched at his words. He gently broke the hug and cupped Taehyung's face in his hands, "No tae," he said softly, his voice a balm to the raw pain etched in Taehyung's expression, "I'm here. I will always be with you. I won't leave you ever again."
Taehyung felt the warmth of Jimin's palms, the gentle pressure of his thumbs against his cheekbones. For a fleeting moment, he allowed himself to lean into the comfort of his lover's touch. But then reality crashed back down, the harsh words he had spoken days ago ringing in his ears. He removed Jimin's hands, took his phone which was on the ground. He stood up, held Jimin's arm and pulled him to his feet as well. "Didn't I tell you that I don't love you anymore? Why are you here? Leave me alone." His voice was laced with frustration and a hint of desperation.
