Chapter 6: Fragile Beginnings
Jackson's words echoed in my mind.
"Because I trust you, Emily."
No one had ever trusted me like that.
Our hands still intertwined, we walked back to the hostel.
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow.
Our footsteps synchronized, a gentle rhythm.
As we approached the hostel, Maddie waved from the entrance.
"Hey, guys! What's up?"
Jackson smiled. "Just talking."
Maddie's eyes sparkled.
"About?" she probed.
Jackson chuckled.
"Private stuff, Maddie."
Maddie winked.
"Got it."
We parted ways, Maddie heading to her room.
Jackson turned to me.
"Want to grab dinner?"
I nodded.
We walked to the cafeteria, side by side.
The tension between us was palpable.
But no longer uncomfortable.
It was anticipation.
Excitement.
As we sat down to eat, Jackson's leg brushed mine.
A spark.
I didn't pull away.
Our conversation flowed easily.
Laughter and stories.
Connection strengthened.
After dinner, Jackson walked me to my room.
"Thanks for listening," he said.
"Anytime," I replied.
Jackson's eyes locked onto mine.
"Emily?"
"Yes?"
"Can I kiss you?"
My heart skipped a beat.
I nodded.
Softly.
Gently.
Jackson's lips touched mine.
A whisper of a kiss.
Spark.
Flame.
As we parted, gasping softly, I knew:
This was the beginning.
Of something fragile.
Something beautiful.
Jackson's eyes shone.
"Wow," he whispered.
I smiled.
"Wow," I echoed.
We stood there, lost in each other's gaze.
The world around us melted away.
Leaving only us.
Two souls connecting.
As the moments passed, Jackson's hands cradled my face.
His thumbs tracing my cheeks.
"I've wanted to do that for so long," he confessed.
My heart fluttered.
"Me too," I admitted.
Our lips met again.
Deeper.
Longer.
The kiss ignited a fire within me.
Melting my fears.
My doubts.
As we broke apart, gasping, Jackson smiled.
"Emily?"
"Yes?"
"I think I'm falling for you."
My heart soared.
"I'm falling too," I replied.
Jackson's eyes sparkled.
"Really?"
I nodded.
"Really."
Our lips met once more.
Sealing our fragile beginning.
As we parted, Jackson's arms wrapped around me.
Holding me close.
"I won't hurt you," he promised.
"I know," I whispered.
Trust.
Understanding.
Love.
In that moment, I knew:
Jackson was the one.
The one who'd shatter my walls.
And heal my heart.

(Next morning)
The next morning, I woke up with a smile.
Jackson's words still echoed in my mind.
"I think I'm falling for you."
I felt the same.
As I got ready for class, my phone buzzed.
Jackson's text:
"Good morning, beautiful."
My heart skipped a beat.
"Good morning," I replied.
Our banter continued throughout the day.
Flirty texts.
Sweet messages.
In class, Jackson's gaze met mine.
A spark.
A connection.
After class, we met up.
Walking hand in hand.
Talking.
Laughing.
Our connection strengthened.
With each passing moment.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Jackson turned to me.
"Emily?"
"Yes?"
"Want to meet my friends?"
I nodded.
"Tonight?"
Jackson grinned.
"Tonight."
My heart fluttered.
Meeting his friends?
A big step.
But I was ready.
For Jackson.
For us.
