Emily focused on classes.
Midterms loomed.
Jackson seemed distant.
Preoccupied.
Emily noticed.
Days passed.
Jackson's distance grew.
Emily's doubts deepened.
Was he losing interest?
Emily's mind whirled.
The afternoon Jackson approached Emily.
"Emily, from the moment I met you, you've been the light in my darkness. Your radiant smile illuminates my world, and your kindness soothes my soul. You're the melody that fills my heart with harmony and the rhythm that makes me whole.
"I know I've been distant lately, but it's only because I've been struggling to find the right words to express the depth of my feelings. You deserve the world, Emily, and I want to be the one to give it to you.
"Will you do me the honor of accompanying me to prom? It would mean everything to me if you'd share that night with me.
"Forgive my recent distance, Emily. My love for you only grows stronger with each passing day.
"You're the sunshine that brightens my day and the stars that guide me through the night. You're my everything, Emily."
Emily's heart swelled but still doubt was lingered in her head she wondered if she should go with Jackson she wondered if the rumours where through but she sticked to hope. Hope that's the only thing that was currently keeping her close to Jackson.
"Yes, I'd love to go with you."
Emily confided in Sarah the same afternoon in her room.
"Are you sure about Jackson?" Sarah asked.
"Rumors say he's still seeing his ex."
Emily's confidence wavered.
"I trust him," Emily replied.
Sarah's expression remained skeptical.
Emily wondered if she should still continue trusting Jackson because everyone around her believes the rumours
Emily's phone buzzed she excuses herself from Sarah.
Unknown number.
" Soon you will find out the truth."
Emily's anxiety grew.
Who was sending these messages?
Why?
The following day
Emily, Sarah and Maddie shopped for Sarah's dress
Gowns, accessories.
Excitement mixed with doubt.
Emily decided to meet up with Jackson the same afternoon
Jackson sensed Emily's unease.
"Hey, what's bothering you?"
Emily shared her concerns.
Jackson reassured her.
"My love, I'm committed to you."
And sadly Emily believed Jacksons words
Emily's mind whirled.
