Chapter 16: Shattered Trust
Emily's eyes widened.
Jackson and Sophia kissed.
Emily's heart shattered.
"How could you?" Emily screamed.
Jackson's eyes pleaded.
"Emily, it was a mistake!" Jackson begged.
Emily's anger flared.
"A mistake?" Emily repeated.
"You cheated on me!" Emily accused.
"You say you love me," Emily spat.
"But this is how you show it?" Emily demanded.
Jackson's voice rose.
"I do love you, Emily!" Jackson insisted.
"But I'm human, I make mistakes!" Jackson pleaded.
Emily's tears flowed.
"After everything we shared?" Emily sobbed.
"How could you do this to me?" Emily wailed.
Emily's voice trembled.
"I don't know if I can trust you again," Emily said.
Jackson's face fell.
"Please, Emily, forgive me!" Jackson implored.
Emily turned away.
"I need space," Emily declared.
Emily ran to Maddie
"Maddie, I need you," Emily cried.
"I just found Jackson and Sofia making out in a random room, why should I always be the one that gets hurt, I honestly trusted him I thought he was different but I guess no one truly is"
Maddie listened, shocked.
"Oh, Emily, I'm so sorry,don't beat yourself about it everything is going to be okay" Maddie consoled.
Maddie's advice soothed.
"Let's go back to the hostel, sleep this off," Maddie suggested.
Emily's mind reeled.
Jackson's betrayal stung.
"How could he do this to me?" Emily thought.
"First Mia, then Sophia... who's next?" Emily wondered.
Emily's heart ached.
"I love him, but he doesn't deserve me."
That was the last thing on Emily's mind as she drifted off to sleep
The following day, Emily avoided Jackson.
Jackson tried to apologize.
Emily ignored him.
Maddie intervened.
"Give her space, Jackson" Maddie advised.
In the cafeteria maddie and Emily were together. Emily sensed that maddie wanted to say something but it was as if she was afraid of saying it
"Mads what's up is there something you want to tell me" Emily asked maddie
Maddie shared her news.
"I found a boyfriend" Maddie exclaimed.
"I was kinda afraid to tell you after you know, what happened between you and Jackson" maddie continued
Emily smiled.
"I'm happy for you, Maddie! Don't worry about me imma be fine" Emily said.
Jackson approached Emily.
Emily ignored him.
Jackson's voice whispered.
"Emily, please forgive me."
Emily went to bed that night with a broken heart
"It's always me getting hurt," Emily thought.
"Everyone's happy but me."
