Chapter 18: Forgiveness and Doubt
Jackson waited outside Emily's class.
"Emily, please forgive me," Jackson begged.
Emily ignored him.
Maddie intervened.
"Emily, are you sure you're not forgiving him because you're hurting?" Maddie asked.
Emily hesitated.
Maddie's words struck a chord.
"Maybe I am," Emily admitted.
Emily recalled Jackson's apologies.
His tears, his pleas.
Maddie motivated Emily.
"Give Jackson a chance," Maddie encouraged.
Emily pondered.
Was Maddie right?
Emily weighed her options.
Trust Jackson again?
Or protect her heart?
Jackson asked Emily to walk with him.
Emily agreed.
Jackson's eyes pleaded.
"Forgive me, Emily, and I'm not only asking you to forgive me because I deserve it but because I believe people when they say love is a deliberate decision, a conscious choice, and I wholeheartedly believe that to be true. Every single day since our paths crossed, I've willingly, eagerly chosen to love you - before I even fully comprehended the depth of my emotions, before it felt safe to express them aloud. And even now, I feel I haven't declared it enough, but it's the honest truth.
You always put others first, worrying about everyone's well-being, but I worry about you. I sincerely wish I could have been there to shield you from the pain you've endured. They say love is tested, constantly questioning our devotion, but my love for you remains unwavering.
Through life's trials and tribulations, love may seem unfair, but it's in those moments I choose to love you more. I accept all of you - your best qualities, your imperfections, your strengths, and your weaknesses. Nobody has ever stayed by my side like you have; you would be the first to breach the decades-long armor around my heart.
Words often fail to convey the depth of my emotions, but I long to tell you how much I love you, tomorrow and every day after. Most importantly, I love you today.
"What if I'm not perfect?" you might ask. My response remains unchanged: I love you still. "What if we don't make it?" you might wonder. But what if we will? If love is indeed a choice, I breathe my love for you like air. Among all potential soulmates, you would be the only person I'd choose.
In a room filled with potential partners, my heart beats solely for you. You are my forever companion, my guiding light, my shelter in life's storms. With every fiber of my being, I love you - flaws and all, imperfections and all.
You are my sunshine in the darkest moments, my safe haven, my home. I promise to love you through life's joys and challenges, through every triumph and every struggle. Forever and always, my love for you will endure I know im not perfect and I don't deserve you but please Emily I beg you" Jackson implored.
Emily's heart softened as tears leave her eyes
"I forgive you,and please do not do it again I can't go through another heart break and Jackson I love you more okay and even when death does us part I promise to find you in every lifetime" Emily whispered.
Jackson's face lit up.
"Thank you, Emily!" Jackson exclaimed.
Emily and Jackson shared a kiss and walked together hand in hand back to the hostel
Night fell.
Emily wondered.
"Did I make a mistake?" Emily thought.

Emily's mind reeled.
What was Jackson hiding?
Why was someone warning her?
Carnival memories flooded back.
The boy's touch.
The other boy's indifference.
Emily's emotions shattered.
She threw things, sobbing uncontrollably.
Maddie rushed in.
"Emily, it's okay," Maddie soothed.
Emily collapsed.
"Why must my life be filled with pain?" Emily wailed.
Emily cried herself to sleep.
Maddie held her close.
"Everything will work out," Maddie whispered.
But Emily's heart remained uncertain.
Emily's thoughts swirled.
Trust Jackson?
Or listen to warnings?
Emily's room seemed ominous.
Shadows danced.
Fears crept in.
Emily's sleep was fitful.
Nightmares haunted her.
Jackson's face blurred.
With the boy's face.
Emily layed there , conflicted.
"Did I forgive too easily?" Emily wondered.
