"Nikiiiiii~"
Nikolai huffed in exasperation. He always told Felix not to play too long in the rain, but who was he kidding? He was an absolute child. Nikolai brought in a bowl of warm soup onto the nightstand next to Felix and placed a damp, cool towel over his forehead.
Felix looked at him while in a daze. He contracted a fever not long after he came back home from being in the rain without proper attire. He usually was mindful of the time due to Nikolai always warning him every three minutes, but that day Nikolai had gone to his papa's in order to check on him, so it was destined to happen.
"Niki can you hold me?"
"Feli, how long have we known each other?"
"35 years?"
"And how long have we been married?"
Felix smiled from ear to ear. "30 years!"
"And in those 35 years of knowing you and 30 years of marriage have allowed me to learn that snuggling you while you're sick is not a good idea." Nikolai handed the bowl over to Felix with an amused smirk as his husband scrunched his face into a pout.
"Can you at least keep me company?"
"After I take kids to school, da?"
"....okayyy."
After getting married (secretly, the government wanted to appease their most coveted civilians as much to their ability) they started adopting children. They mainly adopted from Slavic countries, and the kids were all sub humans like them. Felix really wanted 15, but Nikolai believed that he was pushing it a bit much. However, despite the refrain, they were slowly climbing up to the amount Felix first wanted.
Nikolai came back inside the house an hour later after sending their children to elementary and daycare. The only people in the house now was Nikolai, Felix, the animals, and three little infants. He slowly opened the door to their room only to find Felix staring right at him and his towel long since discarded. Felix blinked in surprise as he came out of his daydreaming, he smooshed his face on his pillow out of exhaustion from staying awake.
"I thought you would already be asleep."
"Only for you to do something else? No way, you told me you were gonna keep me company and you're sticking with it." He let out a little 'humph' to indicate his seriousness.
Nikolai shook his head and chuckled lightly. He walked over to a rocking chair next to his side of the bed. Felix kept staring at him as a way to further his point, but it just made him look absolutely childish. Nikolai sat onto the chair and placed his hands onto his knee.
"So how would you suggest I keep you company hm?"
Felix looked around the room. Nikolai could practically see the gears in his head whirring trying to get and idea through his feverish conscience.
"Could, could you read to me?"
"Da, what would you like?"
"The poetry one you read to the kids a lot."
"Russian poetry? Are you sure? You won't be able to understand it."
"I know, but I like you speaking in your native tongue. It's... nice."
Nikolai's face flushed as he strode to retrieve the book. Felix leaned closer to him eagerly to listen. Nikolai sighed as he looked over to his feverish husband. Even after 30 years of being together Felix knew how to pluck his heart strings like his ukulele. Felix laid his head back down with his gaze fixed on him. So as requested, he started reading the poems in his native Russian tongue.
It didn't take long until Felix crashed from exhaustion. Nikolai closed the book and walked over to him. He turned his husband upright and placed a newly cool and dampened towel over him to keep the fever at bay. While Felix was asleep Nikolai took care of the house and the infants that Felix would usually tackle on a daily basis. Their ragdoll cat named Koshka decided to guard the sick human for the day while Nikolai ran errands. She laid next to Felix and occasionally purred at the calmness of the day.
By the time Felix woke up again it was already night time, and Nikolai was next to him in bed reading the book from earlier. Felix wrapped his arms around his waist as he snuggled up to his handsome husband. Nikolai placed his hand on Felix's head and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Thank you for taking care of me today Niki~"
"Of course Feli. Ya tebya lyublyu."
"Love you too darling~"
Additional Part:
"Goshdarnit Nikolai you're such a hypocrite!!"
Felix was currently trapped in a bear hug by a very feverish Russian American. A few days after Felix got sick, one of the kids came home with a fever and Nikolai caught it. Felix was trying everything to squirm his way out of the fever induced snuggle.
"Niki lemme go you're gonna get me sick again."
"Zatknis' i lyubli menya."
The struggle went on for a few more seconds until Felix gave up. It was the weekend, and the kids' dedushka came to visit as he always did on the weekends. Besides, he was sick earlier, so he might not get sick again so soon.
A/N: So I know I said that the next few chapters would be tied to the season, but my earlier sickness inspired me to make a sickfic about these two!
I really want to work on my other book, but right now I currently have a little bit of writer's block so it's taking it's sweet little time.
What was one of your guys' worst illnesses? The last time I had a serious illness was during Christmas break a few years back. I didn't feel too well and my family had to go somewhere for a bit. I didn't want to stay home in case it wasn't anything serious, but at the end of it I was almost dying from my body going haywire. I asked my mom when we got back to check my temperature. Sure enough I was 104 F (40 C) and my mom sent me straight to bed. The entire rest of the week fluctuated from being 100 F (37.7 C) to occasionally 104 F (40 C). I have never felt that weird in my life, but it was better than having a stomach bug so I didn't complain.
Anyway I hope you are having a good time wherever you are and I'll catch you on the flip side!
Sending You Warm Hugs,
Phroggo Lord
