Buckle up it's my origin story!! >:D
Thank you Storyteller for giving me this idea!
Note: A little sad in the beginning (I had some pretty toxic friends growing up, and I'm also still recovering a little mentally from it as well. I'm much better since I cut them out however!! 👍)
A young girl had just come back from a summer's trip. She has had much fun and was excited to tell her friends all about the adventures she was going to have. She only had two at the time, they weren't perfect but the girl could care less. They were the only people willing to be her friend.
Her family was going to move soon. They had just set up their house for sale yet again since they never really stayed in one place. Her parents were trying everything to make sure that they would have a great rest of their time there until the final move out of their dingy apartment. It was also going to be the girl's birthday soon, so they tried to make the most out of it.
A few days after the family came back, her parents called for her in the small living space.
"We're going to check on the house today before sales," They explained. "we were hoping you would join us for final inspection?"
She thought that it wouldn't hurt to see her home one last time. So she agreed, and they drove off to the home on the other side of town. As soon as she got there, she noticed two other girls jumping on her trampoline (The family was planning on giving it away before sales started). She noticed that it was her two friends!
One immediately rushed towards her and tackled her into a hug. The other hung back recording the whole event, even before the girl got there. 'Probably for another vlog video' she thought unhappily. She waved off the thought as she focused onto the friend holding onto her.
"Happy Birthday and welcome home #^*!%$ we're so glad to see you!!"
"Is this really for me? Thank you guys so much!" I exclaimed.
"It's not over yet! We're heading to my house, and we're going to parrtayy!! It's all going to be about you!" The other friend put away her phone so that she could join in on the hug.
.......................................................................
This wasn't what she wanted at all.
It was fun for a few minutes when they got to the house, but that didn't last very long. They started pushing her to do things that they wanted to do, but she didn't really like those activities. She didn't want to disappoint them, so she kept agreeing and trying to make the most out of it. As long as she complied they would hang out with her, right?
Right?
After doing several activities they dragged her outside to do more activities. That was until her hosting friend spotted her neighbor. Both of the girl's friends started hanging out with her and even went into her house. All she could do was follow since she didn't know anyone else in this neighborhood. The friends kept hanging out with their new friend even inviting her to the party, and the girl was forgotten about completely, but the girl didn't complain. As long as she was near them she would be happy, right?
'Some birthday this turned out to be...' She thought dejectedly. She couldn't leave since she didn't have a phone and her parents were busy with the house. So she was stuck tagging along until morning when her parents would pick her up.
.........................................................................
It was late into the night and the friends, with the neighbor, wanted to go to the pool for a pool party. The girl was immediately embarrassed since she couldn't go into the water. She tried telling her closest friend, the one that hugged her first, but the friend only felt bad and told her that she could hang out near the edge to get her feet wet and 'at least have a little fun in the water'.
As she hung around the water, she noticed something else also near the water. A frog. Immediately she wanted to catch it and name it. When she did she named it Mini. Once she let go of the frog she spotted another. So she caught it, and named it Dory.
Another. Caught. Named
Another. Caught. Named
This went on, until she spotted the biggest of them all. She made it her mission to catch it, and name it Connor. As she tried to catch it, all of her sadness melted away. She kept diving for it until she caught it. What she didn't realize, was that it was no ordinary frog.
It looked at me and began to speak, "Child, why do you spend your time alone when there are others in the pool?" At first, she was surprised, but then she responded as to not be rude.
"The others don't care if I'm in the pool, I would rather spend my time with you than them. You've been the first to care."
The frog looked at me with pity."If you wish, you could join us. The summers are warm and the nights are filled with our music. You would never have to feel lonely again."
She couldn't believe her ears. Countless friends, loneliness no longer. She thought long and hard upon the offer."I would love that," She replied. "but I don't wish to leave my family just yet."
The frog nodded with approval."Very well," it spoke. "then I shall leave you with this: if you ever feel lonely once more, you may call upon us to keep you company. You may also turn into one of us if you ever wish to be free of worry. That is my blessing. Go forth child, go on with knowing that you have become one of us."
As she set down the frog, it looked back with a smile in its eyes.
"Farewell, my lord."
She bid the frog farewell as well. 'My lord? Do they truly see me in hat respect?' she thought. Her face flushed with happiness as she walked back with the other girls to turn in for the night. As she dozed off, she felt as if the frogs' nightly music was especially tailored to her in warm welcome of a new friend.
The End.
A/N: There you have it! My origin story! Sorry if it was a bit sad in the beginning, but that part really did happen to me, and I did catch frogs to pass the time.
Fun Fact: Poison Dart Frogs aren't initially poisonous! It is actually a bug that's in their main diet that uses a specific chemical making them poisonous. The Poison Dart Frog uses that poison made from that bug, and uses it on their skin. So if you take that bug out of its diet, then it will no longer be toxic!
I hope you're doing well wherever you are and I'll catch you on the flip side!
Sending Warm Hugs,
Phr0gg0 L0rd
