Meanwhile, downstairs, Nithya lingered with the family, laughing and engaging with them. But inside, her mind was elsewhere.
Nithya mv : I didn't expect this. I came here to reconnect with Adi, thinking there might still be something between us. But he's married? It can't be...this is not what I planned.
Nithya had known Adi for years. They had been college friends, and she always admired his determination and charm. When she heard about a job opportunity nearby, staying at Adi's house seemed like the perfect excuse to grow closer. Little did she know, she would arrive to find him married.
Still, she wasn't one to give up so easily.

Tara sat on the edge of her bed, the dim light from the bedside lamp casting shadows on the walls. Her thoughts were swirling, battling with emotions she didn't fully understand yet. She kept telling herself that Adi and Nithya were just friends, that their casual conversations meant nothing more.
Tara mv : They've known each other for a long time... they're just catching up. It's nothing. But... why does it feel like something? Why does it hurt to see them together? Why am I waiting for him when I know they're just friends? I shouldn't feel this way... should I?
Her mind raced with questions, her heart betraying the logical thoughts she tried to hold onto. She kept glancing at the clock, waiting for Adi to come back to the room. She had hoped to speak to him alone, to share something, even if it was small. But the more time passed, the heavier the silence in the room felt.
Time ticked away, even few minutes felt like hours, Tara's patience wore thin. Unable to sit still any longer, she decided to go find Adi. Maybe he had been caught up in a conversation, or maybe he had simply forgotten. But a part of her knew that her heart was telling her something more.
Tara walked through the hallways, the house dimly lit in the late-night quiet. She finally reached the balcony, and that's when she saw them.
Adi and Nithya on the Balcony:
They were standing close, Adi and Nithya, laughing softly at something Nithya had said. Adi's usual stern expression was gone, replaced by a warm smile. Tara stood frozen for a moment, watching as they shared an easy, familiar conversation. It wasn't anything inappropriate, but the closeness, the laughter—it was enough to break Tara's heart.
Her breath hitched, tears welling up in her eyes. She turned away quickly before either of them could notice her. Her footsteps felt heavier as she made her way back to their room.
Tara closed the door behind her and leaned against it, letting the tears she had been holding back fall freely. Her chest felt tight, and her mind was flooded with thoughts she couldn't control.
"Why am I feeling like this? He didn't do anything wrong... but why does it hurt so much? I shouldn't care... but I do."
Tara climbed onto the bed and hugged her teddy bear tightly. The soft fur felt comforting against her cheek, but it couldn't soothe the growing discomfort in her heart. She tried to remind herself that there was nothing wrong—Adi was just being himself. But her mind wouldn't stop replaying the image of him and Nithya together, laughing like they had no care in the world.
"Maybe I'm just overthinking it," Tara whispered to herself, though the words felt hollow.
She eventually closed her eyes, but sleep didn't come easily. Her mind kept circling back to the balcony, to the quiet laughter she wasn't a part of. And slowly, she drifted into a restless sleep, unsure of why her heart felt so heavy.
