Pavi knocked gently on Tara's door after arriving at Radha's house. Tara, sitting on the bed lost in thought, heard the knock and quickly wiped away her tears before opening the door. She was surprised to see Pavi standing there with a warm smile.
Pavi: Hey, Tara! Can I come in?
Tara nodded, stepping aside to let Pavi in. She hadn't expected Pavi to visit, but she was grateful for the company. As Pavi walked into the room, she looked around and then back at Tara, sensing the heaviness in the air.
Pavi: (concerned) You didn't eat breakfast this morning and rushed off to college without saying much. Amma is worried about you, so I thought I'd come check on you.
Tara looked down, trying to avoid the topic. She didn't want to show how hurt she felt.
Tara: I just... needed some time to think.
Pavi sat down on the edge of the bed, motioning for Tara to sit beside her.
Pavi: I get it. I know things have been tough between you and my brother lately. But, Tara... sometimes we make things harder for ourselves when we keep it all inside.
Tara sighed, feeling the weight of Pavi's words.
Tara: "It's just... I don't know where I stand with Adi. He seems so distant. And Nithya being around... it's like I don't even exist in his world anymore."
Pavi listened carefully, nodding along as Tara expressed her pain.
Pavi: (gently) I know how it must look. Trust me, I see how Nithya is trying to take up space in his life. But Adi... he's just too thick-headed to see how it's affecting you. My brother might be a police officer, but when it comes to emotions, he's a bit clueless.
Tara gave a small, sad smile at that, knowing that Pavi was trying to lighten the mood.
Pavi: (more seriously) But listen, Tara, you need to speak up. Adi cares about you-more than you realize. I've seen it. He's just bad at showing it. If you don't tell him what's bothering you, he's going to keep thinking everything's fine when it's not.
Tara's eyes welled up with tears again, but she held them back.
Tara: What if he doesn't care enough? What if I'm just... not enough for him?
Pavi quickly shook her head, placing her hand on Tara's shoulder.
Pavi: You're more than enough, Tara. Adi's just slow to realize things sometimes. He's struggling with his own feelings, and Nithya being around isn't making it any easier. But that's where you come in. You need to remind him of what really matters-your relationship. Don't let Nithya be the one to take control of that.
Tara looked at Pavi, her mind spinning. She had been holding in so much pain and confusion, and now it was all pouring out.
Tara: I don't know if I can... it's so hard. Every time I try to talk to him, something pulls him away. I feel like I'm losing him.
Pavi: You won't lose him, Tara. Not if you fight for what's yours. And Adi... he's worth fighting for. But you have to be honest with him. Be direct, and make him understand how all of this is affecting you. He can't read your mind, and trust me, he's probably beating himself up right now.
Tara looked down at her hands, contemplating Pavi's words.
Pavi: You're his wife, Tara. You've got more power in his life than anyone else-more than Nithya, more than anyone. Don't let her make you feel small. And if you ever need to talk, I'm here for you. We're family, okay?
