Chapter 8- The Day At PXL

Rui POV

This morning, I woke up sneezing more than normal. I was a bit worried that I had caught a cold. But after taking some cold medicine, it stopped bothering me. I wasn't about to miss out on the fun.

I walked through the gates of Phoenix Wonderland with Tsukasa by my side. An and Mizuki followed behind. We had all previously agreed to go on the most intense roller coaster in the park. So that's where we immediately went.

"Here it is!" An announced excitedly.

"Woah, that's quite a drop!" Mizuki said.

"There's not a huge line, so I think we should go now." I said, knowing the line would probably get longer later.

"We just got here! You're telling me this is going to be the first ride we go on?!" Tsukasa yelled.

"Hehe, you're not scared are you?" I teased him.

"What?! Of course not! Let's go!" Tsukasa confidently joined the line, and we all followed him.

I thought about Nene's advice that she texted me. Since we were just waiting here, it would be a good opportunity to test it out. I shifted closer to him until our arms were touching, and I felt my fingers brush against his slightly.

To my surprise, he wrapped his pinky finger around mine for a brief moment. I guess he doesn't mind if I'm close to him. Though that still doesn't really confirm if he likes me back. I tried to look at his face, but his head was turned away from me.

It was our turn to get on the roller coaster now. An and Mizuki sat beside each other in the front, and Tsukasa and I sat in the seats behind them. We slowly approached the huge drop.

"Uh, this is a lot higher than I expected." Tsukasa said, looking a little nervous. To be fair, I was too, but it was a mixture of nerves and excitement.

"Hehehe. Here we go!" I said, as we sped down the track. I could hear An shouting with joy as well, and her hands were already in the air. But I mostly only heard Tsukasa's screaming. I was pretty certain the entire park could hear him.

When we got off the ride, I stumbled around, struggling to stay on my feet. There were a lot of twists and turns, and it made me dizzy. Tsukasa put his hands on my waist to steady me. I hate to admit how much I liked that. I wished he didn't have to let go.

Tsukasa POV

After going on a few more less intense rides, we stopped to have lunch. We sat at a table outside, with Rui sitting beside me, and An and Mizuki across from us.

As I was eating my chocolate cheesecake, I started thinking to myself. I was beginning to realize why I had felt awkward around Rui before we went to our classes the other day. I think I might like him. I wasn't sure how to feel about that. Would he even like me back?

I noticed that I was sitting so close to Rui, that our sides were pressed together. I was pretty much leaning on him at this point. I don't even know how I got that close to him. I must've unconsciously moved towards him without realizing.

Mizuki's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Tsukasa, are you good? You're awfully silent."

"Yeah, normally you're always making noise and talking." An added.

"Is something wrong? You look distracted." Rui asked.

"Sorry, I'm fine. Nothing's wrong, I was just thinking." I replied.

"You were thinking? That's a first." An said. Mizuki laughed.

I glared at them. "I think all the time, thank you very much."

I went back to eating my cheesecake. I heard Akito talking about this flavor recently, so I decided to try it. I saw Rui glancing at my plate every now and then, and it looked like he wanted some.

"I can see you looking at my plate. Do you want to try some?" I asked him.

Rui looked happy. "You'd give me some?"

"Sure, here." I said as I put a piece of the cheesecake on my fork. I held it up to him, and he took the bite.

"Mmm. That's good. Thanks." Rui said.

I finished the rest of the cheesecake using the same fork. So I guess that was an indirect kiss. I looked over at Rui's drink. It was raspberry lemonade. Would he let me have some?

"Do you want some?" Rui noticed me looking.

"Yes." I said, as Rui handed me his drink. I took a sip through the straw, and it was really good and refreshing.

"Thanks." I said as I handed it back to him, and he took a sip too.

"Okay, lovebirds, are you done sharing your food?" Mizuki asked.

"Lovebirds?" Rui and I said at the same time.

"Look at yourselves, there's no space between you." An pointed out.

I moved over so I wasn't as close to him. I crossed my arms and frowned at An. "Better?"

"Hey, let's go play some games!" An said, turning to Mizuki and ignoring me.

"Good idea!" Mizuki agreed, and they were both already walking away.

"We'll meet back here in two hours!" An yelled back to Rui and I. Then she and Mizuki disappeared within the crowd.

"Rude." I mumbled, but Rui didn't look bothered.

"Well, what do you want to do now?" Rui asked me. I shifted closer to him again, now that An wasn't here to say anything, and I felt him lean on me a little too.

"Why don't we play some games too?" I suggested. And so that's what we did for the next two hours.
