Y/N L/N was sitting comfortably during his vacation. That was to say, he was sitting upside down while relaxing. Y/N clung to the ceiling of the wood cabin he and his family were staying at in upstate New York.

Both Y/N and Grant had a few days off from school, so the L/Ns decided to take a family road trip. They had been settled in a cabin for two days now. The cabin was peaceful, located on the top of a hill that overlooked a grand lake surrounded by forests on all sides. The tranquil sound of birds chirping filled the air coupled with the soft rustling of leaves. It was a nice break from the constant noise and action of the city.

Y/N was currently playing a game of checkers with his brother in their shared room. He hung from the ceiling, looking down and concentrating. Grant looked up at him with an annoyed brow. He had become accustomed to seeing his brother like this over the past few months and it no longer fazed him.

Grant: Do you really need to do that?

Y/N: Yes. It helps me think.

Grant: How hard to you have to think with a game of checkers?

Y/N: Every move counts. It's not just about being ahead of your opponent. It's about being three, four steps ahead.

Y/N eventually flipped back down and made his move. Grant thought he had made a slip up and took two of his pieces. However, this was all a part of Y/N's scheme. With Grant's new position, Y/N was able to take off all five remaining pieces in one go. He looked at his brother with a smirk.

Y/N: I win.

Grant: Har, har. You've got sensory powers. That's what gave you the edge.

Y/N: Or I'm just that good.

Grant: Yeah, right.

Y/N turned to pick up his phone from the table behind him. As he turned around, Grant flicked a game chip at him. Without even looking, Y/N brought his hand up and caught it effortlessly.

The two brothers continued to relax and play games through the morning. Suddenly, both were brought out of their peaceful state by Grant gasping. He had just checked the latest news report on his phone and was shocked by what he saw.

Grant: Dude, aliens just invaded New York!

Y/N: What?

Y/N was puzzled by what he meant. Grant held up his phone to show him. Sure enough, a live broadcast showed what appeared to be some kind of spaceship hovering over the streets of Manhattan. The ship had an ovular shape, looking like a floating ring. It was ginormous in size, appearing to be as large as a whole city block. Y/N looked at it with wide eyes.

Y/N: What the hell?

Both boys got up and made their way to the living room to tell their parents. They found they didn't need to. David and Julia were sitting in the edge of their seats, watching the TV before them. They had the news pulled up watching the same scene unfold. Julia brought her hand to her mouth.
