WHEN I GOT home after the beach with Quinn I immediately went to my room. Despite being soaking wet I climbed into bed and held Sookie.

Then for the first time since my injury 2 years ago, I cried. It wasn't loud sobbing, it was quiet tears streaming down my face. I nuzzled my face into Sookie.

I didn't realize I was crying until the teardrops were leaking into my dog.

I don't know why im crying. Me and the girl I can't stop thinking about danced in the rain on the beach. She kissed my neck and I kissed her head.

For this being the third time we've seen each other that was pretty good. And yet, here I was. Holding onto my dog like a lifeline and letting tears fall.

My head was pounding and so was heart, I didn't recognize myself. I felt weak and my body felt so heavy I couldn't move.

I eventually lulled myself to sleep but my tears were still fresh on my cheeks.

I didn't dream, when I woke up I could still feel her. Her small hands on my back and mine on her hips. Despite the height difference Quinn's body fit mine perfectly.

I pulled out my phone and hovered at the keyboard. It took me a minute but I finally sent her a text.

JOHNNY: hey
JOHNNY: this is johnny
JOHNNY: Kavanagh
JOHNNY: This is Quinn right?
JOHNNY: hughie gave me you number
JOHNNY: Claire's brother
JOHNNY: he got it from his girlfriend
JOHNNY: your friend
JOHNNY: Katie

I looked at the texts and mentally cursed myself. What the fuck is wrong with me? I just sent the girl 9 texts. My own mother never texts me 9 times in a row.

When she didn't reply instantly I got nervous. I checked the time, it's been 1 minute since I texted her.

I got a notification and immediately checked. Quinn.

QUINN: hey johnny just so you know one text is enough to get my attention

I smiled, I hope she was joking. My response was instant.

JOHNNY: sorry about that

QUINN: it's all good what's up?

Shit. Why was I texting her.

QUINN: is it about your hoodie?

JOHNNY: what hoodie?

QUINN: your rugby hoodie you gave me last night

JOHNNY: what about it?

QUINN: do you want it back?

JOHNNY: not really
JOHNNY: it looks better on you anyway
