"Just let me be close to you."

"Will this be all?" I asked as I signed the last of the documents and had the money transferred for Conrad's surgery when the hospital President nodded.
"Yes, thank you, Ms. Reed." He nodded once at me and gestured to outside where Bastian was waiting for me.
As soon as he saw me come out of the office, he moved towards me, wrapping me in his arms and placing his chin on the top of my head as I sighed into his embrace.
"Everything good?" He asked and I nodded as I felt him kiss my head.
"I think so," I mumbled, pulling away to look at him before smiling a little, "Thank you, Bastian."
"For what?"
"For being here, doing what you did, and everything. You have no idea about how much this means to me." I said and saw his little smile.
"You know I'd do anything for you, little kitten." He murmured when I stood up on my tiptoes and pressed my lips to his, his hands holding tighter onto me tighter.
I know.
"Oh shit, they're legit. I need to bleach my eyes." I heard Logan's dramatic voice and pulled away from Bastian to look at his shocked face and Zara's smug one.
"As cute as all this, Addy's here, Harmony." She gestured to behind her all the while Logan gaped at us just as Addy appeared from behind them both and looked at me with exhausted eyes.
Poor Adeline was managing everything at the company in Conrad's absence and it was clearly taking a toll on her. When she saw me and Bastian all cosied up together, a warm expression flashed on her face before I went forward to hug her.
She sniffled into my shoulder just as tears fell from my eyes and she rubbed my back soothingly.
"He's going to be alright, he has to be." She whispered and I nodded, holding her for a few more moments before pulling away, she wiped my tears away and smiled warmly at me.
"It's going to be fine, Har. I think you should see him." She squeezed when I nodded solemnly and looked once at Bastian before walking with everyone to Conrad's room.
I took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping inside, the air was knocked out of my lungs when I looked at my brother all bruised and bandaged, various tubes and needles sticking to him and machines beeping all around.
His chest moved with every strained breath he took, his face swollen a little and his arm and leg in a cast, a bandage wrapped around his head and a bandage wrapped around his torso.
I put my palm over my mouth to stifle the strangled sob that escaped me as his eyes fluttered open and landed on me, softening when they saw me.
Akrasia, I recalled, a lack of self control, which I was trouble having right now. All I wanted was to hug my brother and have him hold me like he did when we were little and he'd tell me we'd be just fine.
