It was a bright Sunday afternoon when Jungkook and Jimin were invited over to Jungkook’s parents’ house for what was supposed to be a casual family lunch. Jimin was excited but still a little nervous, as this would be the first time both of their families would be meeting together.

Jungkook, sensing Jimin’s nerves, gave him a reassuring smile as they pulled up to the house. “Relax, it’s just lunch,” he said, parking the car. “I’m sure our parents will get along great.”

Jimin nodded, taking a deep breath. “You’re right. I just want everything to go smoothly.”

Inside, Jungkook’s parents were already waiting with warm smiles. Jimin’s parents had arrived earlier and were seated comfortably in the living room. Mr. Park and Mrs. Park stood up when they saw Jimin and Jungkook enter, exchanging pleasantries with Jungkook’s family. The atmosphere seemed relaxed at first, and Jimin slowly began to ease up as they all sat down for lunch.

But halfway through the meal, something unexpected happened.

“So,” Mrs. Jeon began, a twinkle in her eye, “we’ve been talking to Jimin’s parents, and we all agree that it’s time we discuss the next big step.”

Jungkook paused mid-bite, his eyes widening in surprise. “The next big step?”

Mr. Park cleared his throat, glancing at Jimin before turning to Jungkook. “We were thinking, you two have been together for quite some time now. And considering how much you both love each other, we thought it might be the right time to… plan a wedding.”

Jimin nearly choked on his drink. He looked at his parents, then at Jungkook’s, utterly stunned. “A wedding?” he repeated, his voice a little shaky. “Wait… you’ve all been talking about this?”

Mrs. Jeon smiled, nodding enthusiastically. “Yes, we’ve been discussing it today. We think it’s the perfect time for you two to take that next step. After all, it’s clear you’re serious about each other.”

Jungkook’s eyes darted between their parents and Jimin, his surprise quickly turning into a wide grin. “Wow, I didn’t expect this… but I love the idea.”

Jimin, however, was still reeling from the suddenness of it all. “Wait, hold on,” he said, trying to process. “You’ve all been planning this without even telling us?”

Mrs. Park chuckled, patting Jimin’s hand. “It wasn’t so much planning as it was… talking. We know how happy you both are together, and we want to support you in making that commitment.”

Jimin glanced at Jungkook, his heart racing. It wasn’t that he didn’t love Jungkook—he loved him with every fiber of his being—but the idea of their parents discussing marriage without even consulting them first was a little overwhelming.

“Jungkook,” Jimin whispered, “did you know about this?”

Jungkook shook his head, but the excitement in his eyes was undeniable. “No, I didn’t. But honestly? I think it’s amazing. I’ve been thinking about proposing for a while now, and to know that both of our families are on board… it just feels right.”

Jimin’s eyes widened. “You’ve been thinking about proposing?”

Jungkook nodded, leaning in closer. “Of course. You’re the love of my life, Jimin. I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment, but… maybe this is it.”

Jimin’s heart fluttered at Jungkook’s words, the initial shock of the conversation slowly fading as warmth spread through him. He looked around the table, seeing the supportive smiles of their families, and realized that this wasn’t something to be scared of. Their families weren’t forcing anything on them; they were simply expressing their love and support.

“Are you okay with this?” Jungkook asked softly, his hand gently resting on Jimin’s. “If it’s too much too soon, we can wait. I don’t want you to feel pressured.”

Jimin smiled, his heart swelling with affection for Jungkook. “I was just a little surprised, that’s all. But… I love you. And the thought of marrying you—it doesn’t scare me. It actually makes me happy.”

Jungkook’s smile grew even wider. “Really?”

Jimin nodded, squeezing Jungkook’s hand. “Yes, really.”

Their families exchanged looks of satisfaction, clearly pleased with how the conversation was unfolding. Mrs. Jeon smiled at Jimin. “We didn’t mean to overwhelm you, sweetheart. We just want to help make your special day everything it should be.”

Jimin smiled back at her, feeling his nervousness melt away. “Thank you. I appreciate that.”

“So,” Jungkook’s father chimed in with a grin, “does this mean we can officially start planning a wedding?”

Jungkook laughed, looking at Jimin for confirmation. “I think it does.”

Jimin smiled, nodding. “Yes, I think it does.”

The room erupted in cheers and congratulations from both families, and Jimin couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace settle over him. The suddenness of the conversation had been jarring at first, but now, surrounded by love and support, he realized that this was exactly what he wanted.

As they finished lunch and the families continued talking about wedding details, Jungkook leaned in and whispered in Jimin’s ear, “I promise, I’ll make this the happiest day of your life.”

Jimin smiled, leaning his head against Jungkook’s shoulder. “It already is.”

And in that moment, with their families’ approval and their love for each other stronger than ever, Jimin knew that their future together would be filled with nothing but happiness.
