The waiting room at the hospital was filled with a heavy, suffocating silence. Both the Jeon and Park families had rushed over as soon as they heard the news. Everyone sat tensely, glancing at the door each time it swung open, hoping for good news. Mrs. Park held onto her husband's hand tightly, her face pale with worry, while Mr. Jeon paced back and forth, unable to sit still. The anxiety in the air was palpable, and no one dared to speak, as if saying anything might make the situation worse.

Jungkook, meanwhile, was barely holding himself together. His legs trembled, his heart pounded in his chest, and his stomach churned with a mixture of fear and guilt. He couldn’t sit, he couldn’t stand, he couldn’t even breathe properly. All he could do was replay the moment he saw Jimin on that stretcher, pale and fragile, over and over again in his head. He had never felt so helpless in his life.

Why did this happen? Jungkook thought, biting his lip to hold back the tears. He should have been there. He should have stopped Jimin from overworking himself. The guilt weighed on him like a stone in his chest.

Just then, the door to the operating room opened, and a doctor stepped out, his face grave. Jungkook’s heart skipped a beat as the doctor called his name.

“Mr. Jeon,” the doctor said softly, motioning for Jungkook to follow him.

The room seemed to tilt as Jungkook stumbled to his feet. His family and Jimin’s parents watched anxiously as he followed the doctor down the hall. Every step felt heavy, like he was walking through quicksand. He could barely think, barely focus, his mind swirling with dread. He prayed for good news, but deep down, something told him it wouldn’t be.

They stopped in a quiet room, and the doctor gestured for Jungkook to sit. But Jungkook couldn’t sit. He stood, his hands clenched into fists, waiting for the words that were about to shatter his world.

“Mr. Jeon, I’m afraid I have difficult news,” the doctor began, his voice gentle but firm. “We did everything we could, but… we weren’t able to save the baby.”

Jungkook’s world came crashing down in an instant. His knees buckled, and he fell back against the wall, his body shaking as the words hit him like a punch to the gut. He couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t think. All he could feel was the overwhelming pain that ripped through him, leaving him gasping for air.

“No… no, no, no…” Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible as tears streamed down his face.

The doctor gave him a moment to process before continuing, his expression sorrowful. “There’s more, Mr. Jeon. Jimin… he suffered some complications. His womb was severely damaged, and in order to save his life, we had no choice but to remove it.”

Jungkook stared at the doctor, unable to comprehend the words. His mind went blank. His heart felt like it was being torn apart, piece by piece.

“We had to remove it?” The words came out like a broken whisper.

The doctor nodded gently. “Yes, it was the only way to stop the internal bleeding. Jimin is stable now, and he will recover, but… I’m sorry, he won’t be able to have children again.”

Jungkook felt like the ground was falling out from under him. The world around him blurred as the doctor’s words echoed in his head. They lost the baby. And now… Jimin wouldn’t be able to have any more children. His heart shattered all over again, the weight of the loss crashing down on him like a tidal wave.

Tears fell freely down his face as he slid down the wall to the floor, his head in his hands. He wanted to scream, to cry, to fight against the cruel reality that had been thrust upon them. But all he could do was sit there, broken, as the grief consumed him. His chest ached with every breath he took, and the thought of telling Jimin this news felt unbearable. How could he tell him? How could he face the man he loved, knowing the dreams they had for their family were now shattered?

The doctor placed a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder, offering some comfort. “You can see him soon. He’ll need you more than ever, Mr. Jeon.”

Jungkook nodded numbly, though he felt anything but ready. His world had been ripped apart in a matter of minutes, and the only thing keeping him together now was the thought of Jimin. Jimin needed him. He had to be strong—for Jimin.

But as Jungkook sat there, trembling with grief and fear, all he could think was how unfair this was. They had just started their life together. They had so many dreams, so many plans for their family. And now, those dreams were gone. How would they move forward from this? How would they ever heal from such a loss?

He wiped his tears, trying to steady himself. He couldn’t break down, not now. Jimin needed him, and that was all that mattered. He had to be there for Jimin, no matter how broken he felt inside.
