The Grand Line stretched out before them, calm in its deceptive serenity. Yuna stood on the deck of Mihawk’s raft, her white hair fluttering in the breeze as the silence between them lingered.
Yuna began, her eyes catching the horizon, "I’m thinking of meeting Whitebeard before I met Luffy."
Mihawk’s hand paused mid-motion, his fingers adjusting Yōru at his back. He turned his head slightly, a brow raised in surprise.
“Huh?”
His gaze sharpened, as if he was trying to determine whether she was serious or had finally lost her mind.
She chuckled, seeing his reaction. “Yes, I know. The Red-Haired Pirates aren’t exactly on good terms with the Whitebeard Pirates. But I have something important to do there.”
Mihawk’s eyes narrowed further, the weight of his stare suggesting he thought she was about to bring unnecessary chaos upon herself. “Why?”
Yuna shrugged, her laugh soft and knowing. “Don’t worry, I’ve thought about the consequences. I’m not reckless… not like Shanks.”
A slight smirk tugged at the corner of Mihawk’s lips, but it faded quickly. “You’re smart enough to make your own choices,” he acknowledged, nodding. “I won’t ask more”.
A few days passed quietly. The journey had been uneventful, marked only by the occasional exchange between them, Mihawk’s quiet musings, and Yuna’s thoughtful planning. The air smelled fresher as they neared Mihawk’s island.
As Mihawk steered the raft into the dock, Yuna adjusted her cloak, preparing for her departure. She turned to him, offering a respectful nod. “Thanks for the ride, Mihawk. I appreciate it.”
Mihawk, standing tall at the helm, gave a brief nod in return. “Try not to get killed by Whitebeard.”A small smirk played on Yuna’s lips as she climbed onto her waver. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
With a swift motion, she activated the waver, and the small craft shot off across the waves, heading towards East Blue, leaving Mihawk to watch as she vanished into the horizon.
Yuna cruised on her waver, the engine purring quietly beneath her as she enjoyed the wind in her hair. Her mind was already thinking ahead to East Blue, wondering how Luffy had been getting along since she last saw him. But her peace was abruptly shattered by the deafening roar of a cannonball cutting through the air.
BOOM!
The blast rocked the water next to her, sending a spray of seawater high into the sky. Yuna jerked the waver to the side, narrowly avoiding being knocked overboard. Her crimson eyes narrowed with annoyance, scanning the sea.
“Who the hell is trying to hit me?” she growled, her hand already reaching for her sword.
It didn’t take long to find her answer. In the distance, three Marine ships were closing in, their flags fluttering boldly. Yuna sighed heavily, exasperation flooding through her.
“Of course… the Marines.” She muttered to herself, shaking her head. She didn’t want to waste time on a fight, but the sound of the sirens blaring from the approaching ships made it clear they weren’t giving her a choice.
“Ugh,” she sighed, louder this time. “Guess I’ll have to deal with this.”
“Aka no me Yuna! Surrender!” came the booming voice of a Marine commander. “You’re surrounded!”
Yuna shook her head, unimpressed. "Surrounded, huh? Cute."
She wasn’t in the mood to fight, but it seemed the Marines had other plans. Yuna hopped off her waver, standing tall on the water’s surface, her Requip magic flaring around her.
