Hyunjin sat quietly at a corner table in the small café, the gentle hum of conversation and the clinking of cups creating a pleasant white noise around him. The smell of fresh coffee lingered in the air, rich and slightly sweet, mixed with the scent of baked pastries from the counter. His laptop was open in front of him, and the screen reflected the warm glow of the café's soft lighting. He had been there for a couple of hours already, focused on a study video that now played on his screen. Outside, the sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden light through the large café windows, making the world beyond seem like it was bathed in honey. The autumn chill was apparent even from inside, as pedestrians bustled by in coats and scarves, their breaths visible in the cold air.

The café was cozy, not too crowded but not too empty, with a handful of students like him scattered at various tables, quietly typing away or flipping through books. Hyunjin had settled himself into a corner seat near the window, giving him a perfect view of the outside world without being too exposed to it. His large headphones were snug over his ears, muffling the sounds around him and replacing them with the voice of the video he was half-listening to. An untouched americano sat beside him, its warmth long gone as it cooled in the brisk café air.

He absentmindedly ran a hand through his hair, sighing as his eyes scanned the video again. He didn't really want to study, but being at home felt suffocating, and trying to focus with Seungmin or his other friends around was a lost cause. This café had become his escape, a place where he could at least try to be productive without distraction. But today, he felt more tired than usual. His head rested on one hand as he scribbled half-hearted notes, his eyes fluttering closed for just a moment, the dullness of the study video threatening to lull him to sleep.

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw something—a flash of movement near the window. At first, he ignored it, thinking it was just another passerby. But the movement persisted. He glanced up, expecting to see a random stranger walking by or maybe someone waiting outside. Instead, he was met with the wide-eyed, freckled face of Felix pressed up against the glass.

His heart leaped into his throat. He blinked, staring for a second as Felix's face smushed even harder against the window, his breath fogging up the glass, and a goofy smile spread across his face.

Holy shit. Hyunjin nearly jumped out of his skin.

He lurched backward in his chair, the sudden movement tipping him too far. The chair wobbled dangerously beneath him before it gave out, and he fell backward with a loud yelp, hitting the floor with a thud that echoed through the quiet café. His headphones flew off, and his laptop slid across the table, narrowly avoiding a crash landing.

The café went silent for a second, the only sound being the faint hum of Hyunjin's video still playing through the dislodged headphones. He could hear Felix's muffled laughter from outside, his face still glued to the window as he doubled over, clearly finding Hyunjin's fall hilarious.
