“Dude, your hair is a mess.” Krist pointed out.
Kurt groaned and lazily sat down onto the couch next to his friend, basically sitting on his lap. He has to admit that his hair is quite messy. Although considering that he hasn’t brushed it in a few days, he thinks it looks quite good.
“My hair is fine.” Kurt replied. “It’s been worse before. Do you think I'm ugly or something?”
Kurt said this in a jokey tone, although he had to admit that he was curious. He cares a lot about Krist’s opinions of him.
“Of course I don’t think you're ugly.” Krist said quickly. “You are one of the most pretty boys I have ever seen. Which is why I think you should start taking care of yourself.”
Hearing Krist say that made Kurt blush. He quickly forced his blush away, though. He didn’t want Krist to catch him blushing.
“Y-You really think that?” He asked.
“I do.” Krist replied. “Why haven’t you brushed your hair lately?”
Kurt felt an embarrassment pulse throughout him. He awkwardly shuffled with his hands as he wondered what to say. He had a feeling that if he just said he was depressed, Krist would call him a lazy, good-for-nothing slob that should just man up. That’s what his father said, at least. But at the same time, Krist has never insulted him like that. Kurt can trust Krist.“I’m depressed.” Kurt told his friend bluntly. “I hardly have the motivation to get out of bed, let alone brush my hair so it looks presentable.”
“That’s okay.” Krist told him, speaking gently. “I understand that things can be hard for you sometimes and that’s okay. I’m always here to help you. Do you want me to brush your hair?”
Kurt doesn’t like it when people touch his hair because they always mess it up or hurt him. Brushing especially. Whenever his father brushed his hair. His father was so rough and Kurt was always crying at the end of it. It didn’t help that his father always called him a sissy and a pussy.
“You can brush it if you want.” Kurt agreed. “Just please be gentle.”
“I’ll be gentle. Don’t worry.”
Krist got up and grabbed a hairbrush before sitting back down onto the couch. He scooped Kurt up into his lap. Kurt tried his best not to blush. Krist was just so much taller than him. He’s 6’7 while he’s only 5’9. He ignored that though, knowing that if he was blushing in his best friend’s lap, it would be embarrassing if he got caught.
Krist then slowly started to stroke Kurt’s hair. Kurt didn’t know exactly what Krist was doing but he found the feeling comforting and he leaned into Krist, letting out a relieved sigh as he got his hair stroked.
“Does that feel good?” Krist asked.
“Y-Yeah….”
“I’m glad.”
Krist stroked Kurt’s hair for a little longer. It seems that he was detangling his knots. Once they were all detangled, he then grabbed the brush and started to brush his hair. Kurt was scared at first but he was surprised that Krist’s brushing didn’t hurt. It only felt good.
“I don’t know why this doesn’t hurt.” Kurt commented. “Whenever my dad brushed my hair, it hurt badly.”
“Well, your father was an asshole.” Krist said bluntly.
"Yeah, I suppose.” Kurt muttered, forcing himself not to think of his father or the divorce. That would only make him spiral.
Krist and Kurt were silent while Krist kept brushing his hair. Although, Kurt preferred that. He liked it when he shared moments with his best friend without speaking. Speaking isn’t required in every situation.
It seemed that this went on for only a few minutes (although it must have took a least an hour to comb through Kurt’s thick, messy hair) because Krist was soon finished.“I’m all done.” Krist declared.
Kurt grabbed an empty glass bottle and stared at his reflection. He doesn’t remember the last time that his hair was this neat.
“Thank you.” Kurt told Krist. He felt a little sad that Krist wasn’t going to be touching his hair anymore. He liked Krist’s touch. It was warm and comforting.
Even though Krist was done, Kurt didn’t get off him. In fact, he leaned a bit further back. He wondered if Krist was going to say something but he didn't. He just let Kurt stay there without any complaints.
Kurt scooted closer slowly, seeing if Krist would react. When he didn't, he just kept getting closer until he was lying on Krist’s chest, half asleep. He was struggling to keep his eyes open. Soon, Kurt just fell asleep.
Smiling, Krist grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around him and Kurt.
“Good night, Kurt. I love you.” He whispered in his ears as he stroked his band member’s hair in his sleep.
