As Y/n and Tatum made their way to their next class-science, the one class they shared-he felt someone approaching. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a girl walking toward him, her gaze locked on him with a nervous sort of determination.

"Hey, Y/n," the girl began, her voice a little shaky as she stepped in front of him, clutching her books tightly to her chest. "I, uh, was wondering if...maybe you'd want to go out sometime? You know, grab coffee or something?"

Y/n blinked, caught off guard. This was already happening? Day one?

He offered her a kind smile, keeping his tone gentle. "Uhmm, sorry, but I'm not really ready for a relationship right now." He gave her another reassuring smile, one that made her cheeks flush.

"Oh, that's okay!" she said quickly, nodding, though she clearly seemed a bit disappointed. "I get it. Thanks, anyway. See you around." With a small wave, she turned and headed back into the sea of students.

Once she was out of earshot, Tatum let out a low whistle, shaking her head with an amused grin. "Dude, it's literally the first day, and you've already got girls coming up to you like you're a limited-edition pair of sneakers. How's it feel being the guy every girl in school wants a piece of?"

Y/n sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Honestly? It's awkward as hell. I always feel bad when I have to turn them down. It's like... I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I'm not about to start dating half the school."

Tatum snickered. "You're too nice, man. You could just say no and walk away, but no-you gotta give 'em that sweet little smile that makes them blush even harder. It's kind of cruel if you think about it."

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," Y/n said with a roll of his eyes. "You try being polite without making it weird."

As they walked into science class, Y/n was grateful for the distraction. At least here, he could focus on something other than dodging unwanted attention. They found their seats-luckily, right next to each other-and settled in just as the teacher started the lesson.

The science teacher was one of Y/n's favorites. He had a way of making the subject actually fun, tossing in jokes between explanations and never taking things too seriously

It was one of the few classes Y/n looked forward to, and today was no different. As the teacher launched into the day's experiment, Y/n actually found himself paying attention for once, laughing quietly at the teacher's quips and enjoying the break from all the awkward encounters outside of class.

After the last bell rang for lunch, Y/n stepped out of the English classroom, relieved to finally get a break. He made his way through the hall, searching for Tatum.

It didn't take long to spot her, though-she was standing with a tall guy, mid-conversation. The dude looked well-built, with brown hair, a gray sweater, and jeans. Definitely someone Y/n didn't recognize.

Tatum noticed him almost immediately and waved him over. "Y/n! Over here!"

As Y/n approached, the guy turned to face him. He exchanged a quick glance at the stranger, then back at Tatum, eyebrows raised in silent confusion. Tatum chuckled at his expression before clearing things up.

"This is Stu, my boyfriend," she said with a grin, planting a quick kiss on Stu's cheek. He returned the gesture, and the casual affection between them seemed natural, like they'd been together a while.

Y/n blinked, glancing at Stu, who was now eyeing him up and down. A slow smile spread across Stu's face as he stuck out his hand.

"Hey man, nice to meet you" Stu said, extending his hand for a shake.

Y/n hesitated for a second, his hand hovering just above Stu's before he finally shook it. The handshake was firm, almost a little too firm. "Uh, nice to meet you too," he replied, a bit awkwardly.

Stu laughed, a warm and genuine sound. "No need to be so awkward, dude! It's just a handshake, not a marriage proposal," he joked, giving Y/n a friendly pat on the back that nearly knocked him off balance.

"Thanks for that," Y/n said, regaining his composure. "I'll try to remember that for next time."

Tatum smiled, clearly pleased with the introduction. "So, how's your first day been, besides all the attention from the ladies?" she asked, a teasing glint in her eye.

"Awkward, as you can see," Y/n replied with a smirk. "I didn't realize this school came with a dating service."

"Just wait until word gets out that you're the new 'it' guy," Stu chimed in. "You might want to hire a bodyguard."

"Oh great, just what I need," Y/n said, rolling his eyes. "The personal bodyguard to fend off all the suitors."

As the trio headed toward the lunch line, Y/n felt a sense of ease settling in. Maybe today wasn't so bad after all. With Tatum and Stu by his side, he felt like he could handle whatever awkwardness the day had in store.
