You slowly blinked your eyes open, the bright lights above making you squint. As your vision cleared, you noticed a doctor standing next to your bed, her expression a mix of professionalism and warmth.

"You're awake!" she said, her voice soothing. "You're going to be just fine. You'll be out of this hospital in a few days."

Relief washed over you, but it was short-lived as she continued, "However, some police officers and detectives will be coming in shortly to ask you a few questions. They have suspicions that your attacker may be connected to the recent killings in the area."

You nodded, feeling the weight of her words settle heavily on your chest. A few minutes later, two police officers entered the room, their demeanor serious but understanding.

"Good to see you awake," one of them said, taking a seat beside you. "We need to ask you about what happened. Can you tell us what you remember?"

As you recounted the harrowing events of the attack, your heart raced with the memories. The detectives listened intently, jotting down notes, and you could sense the urgency in their questions. They probed for details, wanting to know anything that might help them identify your attacker.

When they finally left you closed your eyes for a moment, letting the silence envelop you. But it wasn't long before the door burst open, and Tatum came rushing in, her face a mask of worry.

Tatum rushed in, "Oh my God, y/n" she exclaimed, hurrying to your side. "I was so scared! I thought you were fucking dead!"

You smiled weakly, grateful to see her familiar face. "Chill out, I'm okay...sort of."

"Sort of? You just got attacked!" Tatum replied, her voice rising. "How can you be okay?"

"I'm in the hospital, aren't I? They said I'll be fine," you reassured her, though the heaviness in your chest remained.

Tatum grabbed your hand, her grip tight and warm. "You scared the hell out of me. I heard what happened, and I just... I couldn't believe it. Are you really okay?"

You nodded, meeting her worried gaze. "Yeah, just shaken up. I don't remember everything clearly, but I'll be alright."

Tatum let out a shaky breath, clearly still processing everything. "I'm just glad you're safe. I was so worried I wouldn't get to see you again."

You squeezed her hand, thankful for her presence. "I'm not going anywhere, i'll never die"

Tatum raised an eyebrow, a teasing glimmer in her eyes despite her worry. "Well, with that kind of attitude, you might just survive this whole nightmare." She leaned in closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "But seriously, if anyone can outsmart a killer, it's you. Just promise me you won't go looking for trouble, okay?"

You chuckled lightly, appreciating her attempt to lighten the mood. "I'll try my best, but you know how I get when curiosity kicks in."

"Curiosity killed the cat, y/n," she warned, her tone half-serious. "And right now, I'd prefer if you stayed the cat who lives on to see another day.

"Fair point," you conceded, resting back against the pillows. "But I have to know who's behind this. What if it's someone close to us?"

Tatum frowned, her expression shifting from playful to concerned. "That's not something you should be thinking about right now. Focus on healing. We can figure it out later, together."

"And if anything happens, you just yell for me. I'll be your personal bodyguard." She said

You smiled, comforted by her unwavering support. "Do you think they'll catch the guy?" you asked, a hint of vulnerability creeping into your voice.

"I hope so," Tatum said softly. "But either way, you have to take care of yourself first. We'll get through this, I promise."

You nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude. As much as the dark cloud of fear loomed overhead, having Tatum by your side made it feel a little less overwhelming.

You could do this. You would do this. But for now, you just needed to focus on getting better, one step at a time.

"Now, let's talk about something else," Tatum suggested, leaning back in her chair. "Did you hear about the crazy rumor going around school about who the killer is? They say it might be someone in our class!"

You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh really?"

And as she launched into the latest gossip, you allowed yourself a moment of normalcy, the shadows of fear momentarily receding into the background.
