Blanca.

I had to admit my parents were very slick with the lies about the extra security measures they had taken. If I hadn't seen that whole scene unfold then I would never have guessed something was wrong.

Either way I spent every afternoon in detention with my least favourite asshole so I wasn't home that much to notice it. Benny had fallen asleep his head hanging back as he leant of his chair. Feeling spiteful and bored since I'd alreayd done all my work yesterday I started ripping my notebook and making tiny balls of paper before trying to throw them in his open mouth.

It took ten little balls for him to wake up, "what are you doing?" He grumbled spitting it out.

I grimaced, "ew."

"It's your fault." Benny replied shaking his hand through his hair to get rid of the rest. Not all of them had reached their target.

I shrugged turning my attention back to Mrs Talahassy who had gotten just as bored as us and fallen asleep on her desk. It was our fifth detention this week and she was just as bored as we were.

I frowned as Benny got up and made his way to the door, "where are you going?"

"She's only going to wake up in an two hours when this bullshit is over, and we've been here for about ten minutes. I'm not going to sit around all day and listen to her snore." He answered opening the door, "are you coming?"

For lack of better things to do and a genuine fear that I might die of boredom I nodded and got up to follow him out. Luckily for us the school was completely because it was a friday and everyone had cleared out pretty quickly. Even the teachers. "Where are we going?" I asked as Benny led me into the dining room of the school.

"The kitchen." He replied pushing the door open, "I'm starving."

"They only have raw ingredients." I pointed out hopping up the counter.

Benny rolled his eyes, "good thing I know how to use them then."

I raised my eyebrows, "you can cook?"

"Is that so surprising?" He asked amused.

"Yes. Why did you learn? I mean your mother is the best cook ever." I responded feeling thrown off by the sudden revalation.

"because my parents realised Ty couldn't be trusted around an open flame and Nico was too uncoordinated in the kitchen. One of us has to keep the others alive while they went away on busniess trips and I was the bet candidate." he told me.

Ty and an open flame was no joke. I'd tried to get him to make spagetti with me and he'd accidentally set the garlic in the pan on fire which in turn made the apron I'd forced him into to burst into flames. Not to mention the time he'd been over at my house and tried to put out an open fire with a bucket of water because he thought the house was about to burn down.

My mother's new wall papers had been ruined but she'd warmed up to him as quickly as I had so he hadn't even gotten in any trouble. All he had to do was bat his little kid eyes at her and say he was sorry. Special treatment much?

"What are you laughing about?" Benny asked.

I grinned, "I just remembered when your brother put out our chimmeny fire with a bucket of water. The smoke and soot went everywhere."

Bennny snorted, "sounds like Ty alright. I don't know how he's going to manage when he lives on his own."

"I'm sure he'll have a cook when he gets rich an famous from football." I said swinging my feet back and forth.
