Benny.

"Did you hear?" Yeah-yeah asked jogging up to me as we walked into our home room, "there was a break in at the Rivera's house."

My eyes widened, "what? No I had no idea."

He nodded, "someone smashed their window and the door was kicked in. It was insane."

I could see eyes trailing after Blanca and Tilly as they walked into school arms linked talking in lowered voices. "Was anything stolen?"
Yeah-yeah shrugged, "no clue. I just know what my parents told me."

Jesus Christ who would be stupid enough to break into their house? And more importantly who would want to? As far as I knew everyone adored the Riveras.

"Do you think she's okay?" I asked him was we followed them into our classroom.
"No. I'd be scared as hell if that happened to me," he trailed off as his girlfriend approached us, "hey Nik, is she doing alright?" He asked nodding at Blanca.

Nika smiled but it didn't quite reach her eyes, "you know Blanca she's always alright."
I knew she was lying but I also knew she was doing it because Blanca wouldn't want anyone to know that.
She smiled at me, "hey Benny."
I smiled back, "hey."

We all took our seats on the classroom when Mr Veran walked in Blanca and I sat at the back so I leaned over and tapped her on the shoulder earning a withering look from her.

"What happened at your house?" I whispered.
"Why do you want to know?" She asked scowling.
"Because your house was broken into..." I replied frowning.
"What am I your personal peep show? Mind your own business weirdo." Blanca shot back.

I was starting to remember why she pissed me off so much.

"Seriously?"
She rolled her eyes, "Yes seriously. I'm not talking about it with you find some other miserable soul to torment."
"Miserable soul? What are you, Ursula from the little mermaid?" I muttered making a face. "Don't be so dramatic Blanca."

"How about you stop being so nosey first? For someone who wants nothing to do with me you're awfully interested."
I scoffed, "I never said that."
She groaned, "I wish you would."

I wanted to club her. Why was everything always a big mystery with this girl?
"You're really not going to tell?"
"Not even if you paid me to." Blanca snapped turning her attention back to her textbook. "Now go back to the work, god knows it would help your grades if you paid attention once in a while. Because they suck."

Fine if she wanted to go that low then so could I. "God knows you need to lighten up a bit." I told her unfastening my water bottle and dumped the contents of it over her head.

She shrieked jumping to her feet, "you dickhead!"
I barely had time to react before the contents of the desk cleaner behind me were thrown at my shirt.

"You missed my face." I teased her as our teacher started shouting for us to stop.
I shouldn't have said that because a moment later she had grabbed one of the open paint cans behind her and poured it over me.

"You're dead!" I snapped at her getting the second one as she started to run away.
I cut her off in the second row of desks and held the bucket over her head emptying it out.

"My hair!" Blanca shouted wiping the paint out of her eyes, "I'm going to kill you!"
I didn't expect her to follow through, but she did, a moment later she launched herself at me knocking us both to the floor.

"RIVERA! RODRIGUEZ!" The principle's familiar voice shouted, "on your feet now."

We were so screwed.

After we'd both cleaned off on the locker room showers and put on our gym kit we were sent to his office. "If they suspend me for this I'll have your head." Blanca threatened making me laugh.
"Ah but that would break your perfect girl image, and we both know you can't handle that."
She stamped on my foot and I bit back a yell of pain, "for you I'll make an exception. And gladly."
I grinned knowing it would wind her up, "I'm flattered."
"Can you be not here instead?" Blanca asked furiously, "I would have a perfect record of it want for your constant agitation."
"Like your anger issues could take it." I muttered.
"I do not have anger issues."
"You so do."

Before we could continue the headmaster walked in, "clearly you haven't taken any of my punishments seriously enough, so I'm going to have to step it up a notch. Both of you afternoon detention for the rest of the semester."

"Sir you have got to be kidding me!" We both protested at the same time.
"It wasn't even my fault he started it!" Blanca added glowering at me, if looks could kill I would have dropped dead on sight.
"No one forced you to retaliate Miss Rivera," our principle added calmly. "I've made my decision."

Take that you little tattle tale.

She sat back down crossing her arms a sky smile spreading across her face, "at least this way you and I will have all the time in the world to work on our Chem project."

I groaned, I had been attending all of our meet ups and that was enough work as it was. But doing it every day after school was where I drew the line.

"No way."
She narrowed her eyes, "way."
"Every day is insane." I told her annoyed.
"It's happening. So suck it up butter cup." Blanca warned me, "is there anything else sir?"

He shook his head, "your free to go. I hope to god I won't see you in here for anything like this any time soon Miss Rivera." He turned to me, "I hope to god I see you on my office for something good soon Mr Rodriguez. Although that would be a first."

I resisted the urge to throw the pencil pot at him as Blanca snickered grabbing her bag, "he made you look like a fool." She told me suddenly grinning ear to ear.
I rolled my eyes, "whatever."

Hopefully normal Blanca would show up to detention because this one annoyed the hell out of me.
