The music swelled, drawing Elara deeper into the throng of guests. She exchanged pleasantries with familiar faces, carefully crafting her persona as the perfect noblewoman—charming, attentive, yet subtly observant. She engaged in small talk, skillfully diverting conversations back to the looming question of Korran's marriage plans. Each word she uttered was a thread, weaving a web of intrigue that would ensnare those who underestimated her. While mingling, she overheard a heated discussion between two lords. Their voices were low, but Elara's sharp ears caught the key phrases: "rebellion" and "discontent." She felt a rush of excitement; the very seeds of dissent she had hoped to uncover were taking root.                                                                                  "Did you hear what happened in the south? The peasants are restless," one lord murmured. "Korran's lack of action could cost him dearly." Elara's mind raced as she connected the dots. This unrest could be the lever she needed to undermine Korran's authority. She moved closer, carefully positioning herself to absorb every word while maintaining her facade of disinterest. "Perhaps a marriage alliance will quell the unrest," the other lord suggested. "If Korran were to unite with the Draxon family, it might buy him some time." Elara smirked, recognizing the irony. Korran's attempts to solidify his power could very well be the spark that ignited rebellion. She'd need to act swiftly and intelligently, planting seeds of doubt about Korran's ability to govern effectively.
